Visits for Standing Order

Constantly changing Ale selection. Always a nice selection and I'm usually able to find a nice dark ale. Staff on the whole are very helpful, when asked to identify which ales are dark they will either know or be open to finding out for me. They will also usually offer me a taster of various beers to help me decide which to order. Standing Order can be quiet and sedate during the day and weekday evenings. However it gets very busy at weekends and when sports or holidays (ie St Andrews Day) are on. However, the atmosphere is always friendly and the pub is child friendly, with seperate areas for families. The food is great, cheap, tasty and a good range is available; steak to curry to pasta and vegetarian options. Starters and puds especially are also very good. As with all Weatherspoons there are deals on some foods and drinks, for example Thursday Curry club, which gets you a curry and a pint for a reduced price. Its also worth checking the website for festivals such as wine, cider and real ale events which offer a wider range and reduced prices. On the whole one of my favourite pubs in Edinburgh to go with friends as it caters to everyones tastes while still offering a good choice Real Ales for me.
