This is not a pub for anyone other than the real ale fanatic. There are around 6 pumps with regularly changing real ales, and one with the cider equivalent. If you like your ales light in colour and well hopped, this pub is unmissable. A criticism could be the lack of much alternative ale style, although there is usually a good porter or similar. The beer is kept excellently. The interior is drab and the clientele questionable... though as it's my favourite pub, I shouldn't admit that perhaps. The bottom line is: if you want the very best in light hoppy ales eg. Phoenix brewery, Kingston Topaz, Oakham Ale JHB; kept to perfection and an abundance of choice, then you will not find a better pub than this.
