## Cultural Context

Spiral Tribe was a UK-based free party sound system and arts collective formed in 1990, pivotal in the teknival movement. After the Castlemorton Common Festival in 1992 — the largest illegal rave in UK history — and subsequent legal battles, they relocated to mainland Europe and became legendary across the continental free party scene. Their ethos of "free music for free people" defined a generation of underground electronic music culture.
