# Black Mask

## Visual Elements

Black mask covering just the mouth and nose part..

## Cultural Context

Simple black face coverings have been used across cultures and movements for anonymity and protection, from nineteenth-century labor protests to modern-day black bloc tactics. In rave and free party culture, face masks serve a practical purpose against dust and cold at outdoor events while also enabling the anonymity central to the scene.

<!-- justification
## Justification

The simplest mask in the collection, and maybe the most honest. In freetekno, you cover your face because the music is the identity, not you.
