# acid

## Visual Elements

a mouth with the tongue out with a square-shaped item on it.

## Cultural Context

The acid tongue depicts a tab of LSD (lysergic acid diethylamide) placed on the tongue, referencing the most common method of ingesting the psychedelic. LSD blotter art — the decorative paper squares that carry doses — became an art form in its own right, with iconic designs circulating through rave and festival culture since the 1960s.

<!-- justification
## Justification

A direct reference to acid house culture's namesake substance — the blotter on the tongue is one of the most iconic images in psychedelic and rave history.
