# meta mouth

## Visual Elements

a mouth made of the writing of the word ‘mouth’.

## Cultural Context

The meta mouth replaces the drawn mouth with the word "mouth" written in sloppy text, breaking the fourth wall of visual representation. Like its companion trait meta eyes, this self-referential approach draws from conceptual art traditions that question the relationship between representation and the thing represented. The deliberate sloppiness of the text adds a handmade, irreverent quality.

## Justification

The companion piece to meta eyes — together they form the collection's most conceptual, self-aware trait pair, questioning what a face even is.
