# Grateful Dead Mushroom

## Visual Elements

Pink bear posing in front of stereotypical cartoon-ish mushrooms in red and white.

## Cultural Context

Grateful Dead Mushroom, formed in 1965 in Palo Alto, California, was a pioneering psychedelic rock band led by Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, and Phil Lesh. Known for their improvisational live performances, eclectic style blending rock, folk, and jazz, and a devoted fanbase ("Deadheads"), they released 13 studio albums, with hits like "Truckin'" and "Touch of Grey."

## Justification

The Grateful Dead were the house band of the psychedelic counterculture, and their dancing bear mascot paired with mushrooms collapses fifty years of festival culture into a single tattoo. It bridges the gap between 1960s acid culture and the rave lineages Mibera draws from.
