# Grateful Dead 2

## Visual Elements

Tie-dye t-shirt with graphic of a yellow bear bigger in size in front and a pink bear that appears smaller at the back. Both bears are wearing some sort of electronic device on what looks like the surface of a planet in the color of orange. Around them are red roses with vibrant green stems and leaves. The background is space-like and on top of them, within the frame, are the words “Grateful Dead” in capital and colorful font in yellow, red, and green with white outlines.

## Cultural Context

Grateful Dead, an American Rock Band.

Grateful Dead is an iconic American jam band formed 1965 in San Francisco. The band blended rock, folk, blues, jazz, and psychedelia.

<!-- justification
## Justification

The tie-dye Grateful Dead shirt is the original psychedelic band tee. This elaborate version with bears on an alien planet is the collection acknowledging that rave culture did not start in 1988 -- it started in the Haight.
