# Bong Bear 17

## Visual Elements

Panda wearing funky-looking glasses. Iridescent-coloured frames with pointy shapes on each end, and pressed oval-shaped glasses in light red. The panda is wearing a scarf in soft green and gradient of blue and peach, and marijuana leaf pattern on it. The panda is holding a circular item in creamy white with its mouth biting on something of the same color. A plushie based on [this Bong Bear](https://opensea.io/assets/ethereum/0x495f947276749ce646f68ac8c248420045cb7b5e/66075445032688988859229341194671037535804503065310441849644897879732569243649).

## Cultural Context

Bong Bears is one of the earliest and most recognized NFT collections in the Berachain ecosystem, created as bear-themed characters on Ethereum's OpenSea platform before Berachain launched its own chain. The collection features a roster of stylized, cannabis-culture-inspired bears each with unique outfits, accessories, and color schemes. Bong Bears helped establish the bear identity that became central to Berachain's community branding, making them a foundational piece of the ecosystem's cultural history.

## Justification

As one of the OG Berachain ecosystem collections, Bong Bears appearing as held-item plushies in Mibera is a direct nod to the shared bear lineage that ties these communities together.
