# psychotria viridis plant

## Visual Elements

a stem of leaves and tiny circular buds.

## Cultural Context

Psychotria viridis, known as chacruna, is the DMT-containing plant in traditional Amazonian ayahuasca brews. Indigenous peoples discovered its precise pharmacological pairing with the ayahuasca vine centuries before modern science could explain why it works.

<!-- justification
## Justification

One half of the ayahuasca equation. Including the raw botanical alongside the prepared brew shows the collection cares about the science, not just the experience.
