## Introduction

ApexRoute ("we," "our," or "the app") is a driving route generation and recording application developed by FroggyEye. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use ApexRoute.

## Information We Collect

### Location Data
- **Precise GPS location** is used to generate driving routes from your current position and to record your drives in real time.
- **Background location** is collected during active drive recording so the app can continue tracking your route when the screen is off or another app is in the foreground.
- Location data is stored **locally on your device only**. We do not upload, transmit, or store your location history on any server.

### Photos and Videos
- The app allows you to capture photos and videos during drives as "route memories."
- All photos and videos are stored **locally on your device only**. We do not upload or transmit your media to any server.

### Route Data
- Generated routes, saved routes, drive recordings, route ratings, and preferences are stored **locally on your device** in encrypted storage.
- We do not collect, transmit, or have access to your route data.

### User Preferences
- Settings such as distance units, speed units, and route preferences are stored **locally on your device**.

## Information We Do Not Collect

- We do **not** collect personal information such as your name, email address, or phone number.
- We do **not** create user accounts.
- We do **not** use analytics or crash reporting SDKs.
- We do **not** use advertising SDKs or tracking technologies.
- We do **not** share any data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.
- We do **not** track you across other apps or websites.

## Third-Party Services

### Google Maps Platform
- The app uses Google Maps SDK to display maps and Google Directions API to generate road-following routes.
- When generating a route, your start location and route preferences are sent to Google's servers to compute driving directions. This is subject to [Google's Privacy Policy](https://policies.google.com/privacy).
- No personal identifiers are sent with these requests.

### OpenStreetMap (Overpass API)
- The app queries the Overpass API to find roads matching your preferences (twistiness, elevation, speed limit).
- Only geographic coordinates and road type filters are sent. No personal data is transmitted.

### Google Maps / Waze Navigation
- When you choose to open a route in Google Maps or Waze, the route waypoints are passed to those apps via URL. This is a one-time handoff and no data is stored by us.

## Data Storage and Security

- All user data (routes, recordings, photos, preferences) is stored locally on your device using AES-256 encryption.
- Encryption keys are stored in the platform's secure keychain (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore).
- We do not have access to your data and cannot retrieve it.

## Data Retention

- Your data remains on your device until you delete it within the app or uninstall the app.
- We do not retain any copy of your data.

## Sharing Features

- When you use the "Share" or "Rate & Share" feature, route information is shared via your device's native share sheet. You control where the data is sent (e.g., social media, messaging apps).
- When you export a GPX file, the file is created locally and shared via your device's native share sheet.

## Children's Privacy

ApexRoute is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

## Your Rights

Since all data is stored locally on your device and we do not collect or store any personal data on our servers, you have full control over your data at all times. You can:
- Delete individual routes, recordings, or memories within the app
- Clear all app data through your device's settings
- Uninstall the app to remove all associated data

## Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy.
