# Door Digest Privacy Policy

## Information We Collect

Door Digest collects the following information to provide its core functionality:

- **Ring Account Credentials:** Your Ring email and password are used solely to authenticate with Ring's API. These credentials are stored locally on your device using flutter_secure_storage (encrypted, hardware-backed keystore on Android, Keychain on iOS). They are never transmitted to any server other than Ring's official authentication endpoints.

- **Doorbell Camera Images:** When AI classification is enabled, snapshot images from your Ring doorbell events are sent to OpenAI's API for analysis and classification. These images may contain people's faces and other sensitive content.

## How We Use Your Data

- **Authentication:** Your Ring credentials are used exclusively to connect to your Ring account and fetch doorbell events.

- **AI Classification:** Doorbell event images are sent to OpenAI's Vision API to classify events (visitors, packages, suspicious activity, etc.). OpenAI does not use data submitted via their API for model training.

- **Local Storage:** Event data, daily digests, classifications, and app settings are stored locally on your device using Hive (an encrypted local database). This data never leaves your device except when images are sent to OpenAI for classification.

## Data Sharing

Door Digest does not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third parties.

The only external data transfer is doorbell event images sent to OpenAI for AI classification, which occurs only after you grant explicit consent.

## Data Retention

All data is stored locally on your device. You control how long data is retained via the Data Retention setting in the app.

You can clear all data at any time using the "Clear Data" or "Delete Account & Data" options in Settings.

Ring session tokens are stored until you sign out or delete your data.

## Data Deletion

You can delete all your data at any time by:

- Using "Delete Account & Data" in Settings, which clears all Hive databases, secure storage (credentials, tokens, consent), and signs you out of Ring.

- Uninstalling the app, which removes all locally stored data.

## Security

We take data security seriously:

- Credentials are stored in platform-native secure storage (Android Keystore / iOS Keychain).
- Local data is stored in Hive, an efficient on-device database.
- All network communication uses HTTPS/TLS encryption.
- No data is stored on external servers controlled by Door Digest.

## Advertising

Door Digest displays advertisements via Google AdMob for free-tier users. AdMob may collect device information and advertising identifiers to serve relevant ads. ## Children's Privacy

Door Digest is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

## Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the app with an updated "Last updated" date.
