--- comments: true tags: - frosting - ingredient - buttercream - cupcake-jemma --- # :cake: American Buttercream ![American Buttercream](../../assets/images/american-buttercream.jpg){ loading=lazy } | :timer_clock: Total Time | |:-----------------------: | | 19 minutes | ## :salt: Ingredients - :butter: 150 g soft unsalted butter - :candy: 340 g confectioners' sugar - :glass_of_milk: 4 Tbsp [whole milk][1] ## :cooking: Cookware - 1 stand mixer ## :pencil: Instructions ### Step 1 Add soft unsalted butter to a stand mixer and beat until nice and pale, about 5 minutes. ### Step 2 Sift confectioners' sugar and add to butter in two stages, beating for about 3 to 5 minutes between each addition. Make sure the mixer is started at a low speed so that the sugar doesn't go everywhere. ### Step 3 Turn up speed to medium-high and beat until the buttercream is nice and smooth and pale, about 3 to 5 minutes. ### Step 4 Add vanilla to milk/liquid if needed. ### Step 5 Add 3 to 4 Tbsp of [whole milk][1] and beat for 3 to 4 minutes. Other flavors may be added at this point. ### Step 6 The consistency should by spreadable and soft.
