--- comments: true tags: - jam - canning --- # :onion: Balsamic Onion Jam ![Balsamic Onion Jam](../assets/images/balsamic-onion-jam.jpg){ loading=lazy } | :fork_and_knife_with_plate: Serves | :timer_clock: Total Time | |:----------------------------------:|:-----------------------: | | 2.5 pints | 30 minutes | ## :salt: Ingredients - :onion: 2 lbs sweet onions - :sake: 0.5 cup balsamic vinegar - :maple_leaf: 0.5 cup maple syrup - :salt: 1.5 tsp salt - :salt: 1.5 tsp pepper - :fallen_leaf: 1 bay leaf - :green_apple: 2 cups apple juice - :rice: 3 Tbsp pectin - :candy: 0.5 cup granulated sugar ## :cooking: Cookware - 1 large pot - 1 jars ## :pencil: Instructions ### Step 1 In a large pot combine sweet onions, balsamic vinegar, maple syrup, salt, pepper and 1 bay leaf. ### Step 2 Cook over medium heat for about 10 to 15 minutes until the onions are translucent, stirring occasionally. ### Step 3 Add in apple juice and pectin and stir to combine. Turn heat to high and bring to a rolling boil. ### Step 4 Then add granulated sugar all at once and bring the mixture back to a full rolling boil that cannot be stirred down.
