--- comments: true --- # :rice: Brazilian Rice ![Brazilian Rice](../assets/images/brazilian-rice.jpg){ loading=lazy } | :fork_and_knife_with_plate: Serves | :timer_clock: Total Time | |:----------------------------------:|:-----------------------: | | 4 | 31 minutes | ## :salt: Ingredients - :rice: 1 cup long-grain rice - :olive: 0.25 cup olive oil - :onion: 1 onion - :garlic: 3 cloves garlic - :droplet: 2 cups water - :salt: 0.25 tsp salt - :herb: some cilantro (optional) ## :cooking: Cookware - 1 colander - 1 medium-sized pot - 1 fork ## :pencil: Instructions ### Step 1 Rinse the long-grain rice in a colander under cold water. ### Step 2 Add the olive oil to a medium-sized pot on medium high heat. When the oil is hot, add the finely diced onion and minced garlic. Sauté for 4 minutes, stirring constantly. ### Step 3 While that is cooking, boil 2 cups of water (or heat up a tea kettle). ### Step 4 Add the rinsed rice to the pot and stir for 2 minutes. ### Step 5 Now add the boiling water and salt. Reduce heat to simmer and cook the rice, covered, for 20 minutes. ### Step 6 Turn off the heat and remove the pot's lid. Let the rice sit for 5 minutes then fluff with a fork. ### Step 7 Optionally top the rice with fresh chopped cilantro (optional) and serve. ## :link: Source -
