# Layout configuration Keyboard Layout Switcher does not own a key-mapping model. Hyprland and XKB remain responsible for turning a physical key into a symbol: ```text physical key → device XKB group → XKB symbols file → emitted symbol ``` For this machine, the global `colemak_dh,us` group list gives the built-in keyboard Colemak-DH and QWERTY. The first group also supplies fixed shortcut positions. The Voyager's per-device `us` override prevents Hyprland from remapping the Colemak-DH symbols already emitted by its firmware. The panel derives its layout rows from each device's runtime `layout` and `variant` values. Editing a custom layout opens its user-owned XKB symbols file. Editing a stock layout opens the relevant user configuration so an editor or agent can create an override without modifying system XKB files.
