# Armored Core: Project Phantasma PSX Recomp Static recompilation project for **Armored Core: Project Phantasma (USA)** on the original PlayStation. This project uses **PSXRecomp** to statically recompile the PlayStation executable for modern systems and integrates the current **recomp-ui** launcher workflow. ## Project status **Work in progress.** Current known disc metadata: | Item | Value | |---|---| | Game | Armored Core: Project Phantasma | | Region | USA | | Disc count | 1 | | Players | 2 | | Publisher | ASCII Entertainment | | Year | 1997 | | PlayStation serial | `SLUS-00670` | | Boot executable | `SLUS_006.70` | | Load address | `0x80011000` | | Entry PC | `0x80011E94` | | Text size | `0x0002B000` | | Stack base | `0x801FFFF0` | | Disc fingerprint | `1b8cdff66b85737755b650a44983af575a6768f21c91562389173b80bb11deb8` | The configuration currently uses `seeds/ghidra_funcs.txt` for recompiler seed discovery and the current project layout generated by the PSXRecomp New Project Layout tools. ## Framework This project is built with **PSXRecomp** and **recomp-ui**. - PSXRecomp: https://github.com/RetroPortingToolKit/psxrecomp - recomp-ui: https://github.com/RetroPortingToolKit/recomp-ui ### PSXRecomp credit Special thanks and full credit to **mstan** for creating and developing **PSXRecomp**, the PlayStation static recompilation tool and framework that makes this project possible. This project would not exist without mstan's work on PlayStation static recompilation, code generation, runtime support, and the surrounding PSXRecomp tooling. Additional thanks to the PSXRecomp contributors, **RetroPortingToolKit**, and the recomp-ui contributors for continuing to develop and maintain the surrounding ecosystem. ## Legal game requirement **You must provide your own legally obtained copy of Armored Core: Project Phantasma.** This repository does **not** provide or distribute the original game or copyrighted game data. In particular, it does not intentionally include: - BIN files - CUE files - ISO files - CHD files - ROM images - PlayStation BIOS dumps - original PlayStation executables - FMV files - music or game audio - textures, models, maps, or other extracted copyrighted game assets Disc images and local game files should remain outside the public repository and are expected to be ignored by Git. ## Quick start for developers Clone the repository and initialize its submodules: ```bash git clone --recursive https://github.com/omegakatana92/Armored-Core-Project-Phantasm-Recomp.git cd Armored-Core-Project-Phantasm-Recomp git submodule update --init --recursive ``` Use your own legal copy of the USA release of **Armored Core: Project Phantasma** when running the generation workflow. A typical current-layout generation/build flow is: ```bash python3 psxrecomp/psxrecomp_cli.py generate \ --config game.toml \ --project-root . \ --disc /path/to/Armored-Core-Project-Phantasma-USA.cue cmake -S . -B build-release -G Ninja -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=Release cmake --build build-release --target psx-runtime ``` Exact commands can change as PSXRecomp develops, so consult the documentation included in the pinned `psxrecomp` submodule when necessary. ## recomp-ui The project is intended to use the current **recomp-ui** launcher and setup workflow. The launcher can provide a more user-friendly way to select and validate a legally obtained game copy, configure settings, and launch the recompiled title. UI presence alone should not be considered proof that the game is fully playable. Runtime status should only be updated after the relevant features have actually been tested. ## Status definitions - **Buildable** — recompilation generates and compiles successfully. - **UI Functional** — recomp-ui launches and its required setup/settings flow works. - **Bootable** — the recompiled game reaches startup or the title screen. - **Playable** — actual gameplay can be reached and controlled. - **Complete** — substantial full-game testing has been performed without known game-breaking recompilation problems. These labels should be used conservatively. A successful build alone does not mean the game is complete or even playable. ## Areas to test Important runtime areas include: - startup and title screen - menus - controller input - missions - Arena gameplay - AC assembly and customization - shop and equipment screens - loading and transitions - memory-card save/load behavior - XA/CD audio - FMV playback - graphics and frame pacing - dynamically loaded code and overlays - unknown dispatch addresses or crashes ## Repository policy Build output and local game material should not be committed. Keep files such as these out of the public repository: ```text *.bin *.cue *.iso *.chd *.img *.rom *.pbp *.ecm *.exe *.dll build/ build-*/ out/ dist/ cmake-build-*/ CMakeCache.txt CMakeFiles/ BIOS/ bios/ ``` The `psxrecomp` and `recomp-ui` framework dependencies should remain Git submodules rather than copied source trees. ## Disclaimer This is an unofficial fan and technical research project.
