Weigle http://www.cs.odu.edu/~mweigle/ Office Hours: R, 3:00-4:00 and by appointment Time: W 2:00 - 4:30 pm Place: ECS, r. 3102 This class will provide an in-depth exploration of advanced research issues surrounding web archiving, with emphasis on past, current, and future work of the ODU Web Science and Digital Libraries (WS-DL) resarch group. Topics will include: web archiving basics, the W3C Web Architecture, a survey of open issues in web archiving, research methodology, and a review of tools and proficiencies necessary for success with the WS-DL group. Students must be comfortable with self-directed learning appropriate for an advanced graduate class. Prerequisites: Permission of the instructors. Attendance Policy: Attendance is required for class participation, presentation, and discussion. Absences must cleared with the instructors prior to class. You are responsible for everything that is said, discussed, and presented during class. Grading: The class is pass/fail. A passing grade will be determined by class participation and satisfactory performance on projects to be assigned later by the instructors. Late assignments are not accepted unless you have a documented reason approved by the instructor prior to the due date.
