Coding-guidelines documents are organization-level files (style guides, security standards, internal conventions) that the Pixee platform consults when triaging and fixing SAST findings, alongside org preferences. Unlike `pixee organization preferences`, which manages a single freeform markdown blob inline, coding-guidelines are a set of uploaded documents, each with its own filename and processing status. ## Coding guidelines or preferences? Upload a document as coding guidelines when it is long, formal, owned by another team, or revised on its own schedule. Pixee keeps it intact, applies it to every repository, and consults the passages that match each finding, labeled with their source document. There is no in-place replace: to adopt a revised standard, upload the new revision and delete the superseded document, or Pixee retrieves passages from both. Uploads go through the Pixee web app or the API, not the CLI, and are limited to 25 documents per organization and 5 MB per file. Use preferences instead for short, human-reviewed decisions about how Pixee behaves: rules or vulnerability classes in scope, rules to disable, paths to ignore, and org-wide remediation choices. Only preferences configure these deterministically, and only preferences reach SCA analysis. Organizations with formal standards usually want both. Don't condense a long standard into preferences to fit their size cap; upload it, and promote only the few rules that must apply to every relevant finding into preferences, remembering that repositories with their own `PIXEE.md` don't see org preferences. See `../pixee-preferences/SKILL.md` for the full decision guide. ## pixee organization coding-guidelines list ``` pixee organization coding-guidelines list ``` No flags beyond the global ones. Pagination is transparent — the CLI walks every page in one call. Text output is tab-separated with columns `display_name`, `filename`, `status`, `size`, `id`. Use `--output json` (or `--json`) for the full HAL record per document. ## Examples ```bash # List every coding-guidelines document for the organization pixee organization coding-guidelines list # Machine-readable listing piped to jq pixee organization coding-guidelines list --json | jq '.[] | {display_name, status}' # Find documents that failed processing pixee organization coding-guidelines list --json | jq '.[] | select(.status != "ready")' ``` ## Best practices - Check `status` before assuming a recently uploaded document is already in effect — processing is asynchronous, and a document in a non-ready state won't yet influence fix generation. - This skill only lists documents; uploading or deleting a coding-guidelines document is done through the Pixee web app or the API directly. A revision is a new upload plus a delete of the superseded document; confirm the new one reaches `ready` before deleting the old one. See `pixee-api` for the HAL-first discovery pattern if scripting against those endpoints. - Don't conflate this resource with `pixee organization preferences` (see `pixee-preferences`): preferences are one inline markdown blob; coding-guidelines are a set of uploaded documents.
