# Individual Contributor Licence Agreement — version 1 By posting **“I have read the CLA Document and I hereby sign the CLA”** on your pull request, you agree to the following terms for contributions you intentionally submit to PlayBridge. A contribution may include code, documentation, tests or other project material; clearly mark material you do not intend as a contribution. **“Maintainer”** means the owner of the PlayBridge project, identified as whoever controls the `playbridgeapp` account on GitHub and the `playbridge.app` domain, together with any successor or assignee of their rights in PlayBridge, including a legal entity the owner forms to hold the project. 1. **You keep ownership.** You retain copyright in your contributions. 2. **Copyright grant.** You grant the Maintainer a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, irrevocable licence to use, reproduce, modify, prepare derivative works, display, perform, sublicense and distribute your contributions and derivative works. The Maintainer may do so under MPL-2.0 or any other licence, including future licence changes, dual licensing and commercial licensing. 3. **Patent grant.** On the same terms, you grant the Maintainer a licence under patent claims you control that are necessarily infringed by your contributions, alone or combined with the project to which you submit them, to make, have made, use, sell, offer for sale, import, sublicense and distribute them. 4. **Authority.** You confirm that you have the right to grant these licences, including any permission required from your employer. Identify third-party material and its licence; you do not grant rights you do not hold. 5. **No warranty.** Your contributions are provided as is, without warranties or a promise to provide support. 6. **Open source promise.** The Maintainer will keep your contributions available under an open source licence approved by the Open Source Initiative, such as MPL-2.0. The Maintainer may also offer them under other terms, but will not distribute them only under terms that are not open source. This agreement follows the general scope of the [Apache individual CLA](https://www.apache.org/licenses/icla.pdf), but is a separate agreement for PlayBridge. It is not legal advice; seek independent advice before adapting it for another project. Only PR authors sign. AI-tool co-author attribution does not create a separate signing requirement. See [CONTRIBUTING.md](CONTRIBUTING.md) for the workflow and public signature-record details, and [docs/licensing.md](docs/licensing.md) for why PlayBridge uses MPL-2.0 and a CLA. The MPL code licence and the [trademark policy](TRADEMARKS.md) are separate from this agreement.
