Vedute — Privacy Policy Last updated: September 9, 2026 The short version: Vedute does not collect, transmit, or sell any of your data. The whole corpus of Piranesi's plates ships inside the app; your notes, collections and readings live on your iPad and, if you choose, in your own iCloud. We never see them. DEVELOPER Vedute is developed by Dzianis Milasheuski, an individual developer based in Lithuania. Questions about this policy: info@porconova.com WHAT WE COLLECT Nothing. Vedute has no analytics, no ads, no accounts, and no servers that receive your data. There is no sign-up and no login. The app makes no network requests to the developer. The only network activity is Apple's own systems, described below, and links you open yourself. HOW THE APP WORKS - The catalogue — 1,438 works, 1,039 of them with a full-resolution scan, with titles in 21 languages, places, dates and provenance — is bundled with the app. Browsing, searching, zooming and reading plates happens entirely on your device and works with no connection at all. - Your own work — collections, notes, annotations and measurements on a plate ("readings"), and saved comparisons — is stored in the app's database on your device. - iCloud sync. If you are signed in to iCloud on your iPad, the app keeps that same work in the private area of your iCloud account (container iCloud.com.pn.vedute) so it appears on your other devices. This is Apple's CloudKit private database: the data is encrypted in transit and at rest, is tied to your Apple Account, and the developer has no access to it, cannot read it and cannot restore it. Sync is governed by Apple's iCloud terms and privacy policy. Turn iCloud Drive off for Vedute in Settings, or sign out of iCloud, and the app keeps working with a local copy only. - Settings — title language, measurement units, viewer preferences, whether you have seen the introduction — are stored in the app's own preferences on the device. - Map of Rome. The map screen uses Apple Maps (MapKit). When you open it, your device requests map tiles from Apple, under Apple's privacy policy. The app does not request your location and has no location permission. - Museum pages. A plate's provenance lists the collections that hold the original and links to their pages (The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the National Gallery of Art, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Cleveland Museum of Art, Wikimedia Commons). A link opens only when you tap it, in your browser, under that site's own privacy policy. WHAT LEAVES YOUR DEVICE Only what you export yourself, and only where you send it. A plate shared through the share sheet, an annotated PNG, a PDF contact sheet, a citation copied to the clipboard, or a reading exported as a .vedute file goes exactly where you choose to put it — a message, a mail, another app, a file. Nothing is sent automatically, and nothing is sent to us. PERMISSIONS Vedute asks for no system permissions. It does not access your location, camera, microphone, contacts or photo library. Exported images are handed to the system share sheet, which lets you decide where they go. PURCHASES Vedute Pro is sold through Apple's In-App Purchase, as an auto-renewing subscription (monthly or yearly) or a one-time Lifetime purchase. Apple, not the developer, processes payment. We receive no personal or payment information — only whether this device holds a valid entitlement. You can manage or cancel a subscription in Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions on your device. YOUR RIGHTS Because the app collects no personal information on the developer's side, there is no developer-held data for you to access, correct, export, or delete. - Data stored on your device can be removed by deleting the app, or item by item inside it: notes, collections, readings and comparisons can each be deleted individually. - Data kept in your iCloud is under your control: delete it from inside the app, or remove the app's data in Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → Manage Storage. - Your readings can be exported at any time as .vedute files, and your plates and comparisons as images and PDFs, which together are a portable copy of everything the app holds for you. - An active subscription can be cancelled in your Apple Account subscriptions. CHILDREN Vedute is a reference and study instrument for an eighteenth-century body of prints. It is not directed at children under the age of 13 and does not knowingly collect any data from children. THE PLATES The images in the app are reproductions of works by Giovanni Battista Piranesi (1720–1778) that are in the public domain, published by the holding museums under open-access terms. They contain no information about you. REGULATORY NOTES The app is designed so that no directly identifying personal information (name, email, IP address, advertising identifier, account ID) is collected by the developer or by any third party the developer uses. Where Apple acts as a processor — for purchases, for iCloud sync, for map tiles — those activities are governed by Apple's own privacy policy. Your notes and readings are your own content; they are processed on your device and in your own iCloud account, and are never transmitted to the developer.
