# Privacy Policy - AI Page Summarizer

## What this extension does

AI Page Summarizer lets you summarize the text of the current web page, or
text you've selected, using Claude or ChatGPT.

## What data is collected

When you click "Summarize Page" or "Summarize Selection":

- The visible text of the current page (or your selected text) is sent to
  our backend server, which forwards it to Anthropic (Claude) or OpenAI
  (ChatGPT) to generate a summary.
- An anonymous, randomly generated identifier (not tied to your name,
  email, or Google account) is stored locally in your browser and sent
  along with each request. This is used only to enforce a daily free-use
  limit and is not linked to any personal information.

## What is NOT collected

- No account, sign-up, or login is required or requested.
- No name, email address, or browsing history is collected.
- Page text is not stored after the summary is generated - it is used only
  to produce that single response.

## Third parties

Page/selection text you choose to summarize is sent to:

- Anthropic (https://www.anthropic.com/legal/privacy) - when using the
  "Claude" option
- OpenAI (https://openai.com/policies/privacy-policy) - when using the
  "ChatGPT" option

Please review their privacy policies for how they handle data sent to
their APIs.
