# Omarchy Plugin Ideas

A place to post [Omarchy](https://omarchy.org) plugin ideas you don't have the time, skills, or resources to build yourself — so someone who does can pick them up.

Posting and discussing ideas happens in [**Discussions**](../../../discussions/categories/ideas). This repo's root also holds a companion Omarchy plugin — see the [main README](../README.md) — that desktop-notifies you when a new idea shows up here.

## How it works

1. **Post an idea** — open a new discussion in the [Ideas category](../../../discussions/categories/ideas) using the template. Be specific about the problem it solves and how it should behave; vague requests ("something for tiling") get ignored.
2. **Discuss** — others comment, ask questions, react (👍) to signal interest, and link prior art or similar tools.
3. **Claim it** — if you want to build it, comment saying so. A maintainer (or the original poster) adds the `claimed` label and, once someone is actively working on it, `in-progress`.
4. **Ship it** — when the plugin is built, comment on the discussion with a link to the finished repo and [submit it to the Omarchy Plugin Marketplace](https://github.com/HANCORE-linux/omarchy-plugin-marketplace/issues/new?template=submit-plugin.yml). The discussion gets marked `built` and locked.

Ideas with no takers just sit there — that's fine. This is a backlog, not a queue with SLAs.

## Guidelines

- Search open and closed discussions before posting — duplicates get closed in favor of the original.
- One idea per discussion. Split unrelated ideas into separate posts.
- Describe the problem, not just a feature name — "I want to X but currently have to Y" beats "clipboard manager plugin".
- No one is obligated to build anything here, including the person who posted the idea.
- If you build an idea, you own the resulting plugin. This repo makes no claim on it and takes no credit.

## Status labels

| Label | Meaning |
|---|---|
| `idea` | Open, unclaimed. |
| `claimed` | Someone has said they intend to build it. |
| `in-progress` | Actively being built. |
| `built` | Shipped and submitted to the marketplace. Discussion is locked. |
