# Privacy Policy for Real Tab Grouper

Real Tab Grouper (“the extension”) is a Chrome extension that organizes open tabs into native Chrome tab groups using local classification.

## Summary

Real Tab Grouper does not transmit, sell, or share personal information. The MVP makes no network requests for classification, analytics, or accounts. The extension does not use Google APIs to access account data.

## Data stored locally

## Data not collected

Real Tab Grouper does not collect:

- Names, email addresses, or account information
- Passwords, form field values, or editable text
- Cookies, authentication tokens, or network bodies
- Analytics, advertising identifiers, or usage telemetry
- Page content in Basic mode

## How the extension works

- Reads tab title, URL, hostname, and related tab flags from the current window
- Classifies tabs with a local rules and keyword pipeline
- Creates or updates native Chrome tab groups you request (or auto-group when enabled)
- Never closes, reloads, discards, duplicates, mutes, or activates tabs during grouping
- Optional deep analysis (if enabled in a later release) may read limited visible page text only after explicit website permission

## Permissions

- **tabs** — access titles/URLs and manage tab group membership
- **tabGroups** — create and update native group titles and colors
- **storage** — remember settings and rules
- **sidePanel** — show the control UI

Real Tab Grouper makes **no network requests** in the MVP for classification or analytics.

Real Tab Grouper does **not** change Chrome search settings and does not replace the new-tab page.

## Chrome Web Store User Data Policy

Real Tab Grouper is designed to comply with the [Chrome Web Store User Data Policy](https://developer.chrome.com/docs/webstore/program-policies/user-data-faq), including Limited Use requirements. Local preferences and rules are used only to provide the grouping feature.

## Children’s privacy

Real Tab Grouper does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

## Changes to this policy

If this privacy policy changes, the “Last updated” date at the top will be revised.
