# Privacy Policy — README Guard **What we collect** - We do **not** collect, sell, or share personal information. - The extension reads GitHub repository metadata and README content for the current tab to show alerts (missing, outdated, badges). - Optionally, you can store a GitHub Personal Access Token (PAT) locally to avoid API rate limits. It stays in `chrome.storage.local` on your device and is never sent to third parties. - We store a local list of up to 5 monitored repositories to enforce the Free plan limit. This data is kept only on your device. **What we don’t do** - No analytics, no advertising, no tracking of browsing history or user activity beyond the current GitHub repo. - No syncing or transmission of stored data (PAT, monitored repos) to our servers or others. - No remote code execution or injection; only GitHub API calls for the active repository. **Purpose** - Single purpose: alert you about the health of your GitHub README (presence, freshness, badges). **Contact** - For questions or support, contact: renato.ipj@gmail.com
