--- name: humanize-ai-text description: Rewrite AI-sounding text so it reads like a real person wrote it — vary sentence rhythm, cut robotic tells and filler, and keep the original meaning. Use when a draft feels generic, templated, or "AI-written", or when the user asks to humanize, de-slop, or make text sound natural. license: MIT --- # Humanize AI Text Rewrite text so it reads like a thoughtful human wrote it, without changing what it says. ## When to use - A draft reads as generic, templated, or obviously AI-generated. - The user asks to "humanize", "make this sound human", "remove AI tells", or "de-slop". - Content is heading somewhere a human voice matters: newsletters, blogs, landing pages, social posts. ## The AI tells to remove Most AI writing shares the same fingerprints. Hunt these down: 1. **Uniform sentence length.** Real writing bursts — a long sentence, then three words. AI writing marches in even 15–20 word lines. Break the rhythm. 2. **Hedging scaffolding.** "It's important to note that", "In today's fast-paced world", "When it comes to", "Whether you're a X or a Y". Delete on sight. 3. **The rule of three, everywhere.** "Efficient, scalable, and reliable." One triad in a piece is fine; five is a tell. Cut most to one or two items. 4. **Empty transitions.** "Moreover", "Furthermore", "Additionally", "In conclusion". Replace with a real connective idea or nothing. 5. **Over-explaining the obvious.** AI restates the premise before answering. Start at the point. 6. **Symmetrical paragraphs.** Every paragraph the same shape and length. Vary them — some one line, some five. 7. **Thesaurus flexing.** "Utilize", "leverage", "myriad", "plethora", "delve", "tapestry". Use the plain word. 8. **No concrete detail.** AI stays abstract. Add a specific number, name, example, or moment. ## Method 1. **Read it aloud in your head.** Anywhere you'd never actually say it that way, mark it. 2. **Cut 15–25% of the words.** Fluff is the loudest AI signal. Tighten first, then rewrite. 3. **Rebuild the rhythm.** Deliberately alternate long and short sentences. Let one land hard. 4. **Swap abstractions for specifics.** Replace at least one vague claim per paragraph with a concrete detail. 5. **Add one human seam.** A small aside, a mild opinion, a direct address to the reader — something an editor wouldn't sand off but a template never produces. 6. **Preserve meaning and facts.** Do not invent claims, stats, or quotes. Humanizing changes *how* it reads, never *what* it asserts. ## Guardrails - Keep the author's intent, argument, and any facts intact. - Match the existing tone unless asked to change it (a legal disclaimer should not become chatty). - Don't overcorrect into quirkiness — the goal is "a competent human wrote this", not "a comedian did". - If the text is already natural, say so and make only light edits rather than forcing changes. ## Example **Before (AI-sounding):** > In today's fast-paced digital landscape, it's important to note that leveraging social media is crucial for businesses. Moreover, it allows companies to engage, connect, and communicate with their audience in meaningful ways. **After (humanized):** > Social media is where your customers already are. Used well, it's the cheapest way to talk to them directly — and the fastest way to hear back. --- *Want detector-grade humanization at scale?
