# Privacy Policy **App:** Gornan (جرنان) **Publisher:** Cybelli - Sameh El-Hakim **Last updated:** 2026-05-09 This Privacy Policy describes how the Gornan app ("the App", "we") handles information when you use the App on your iOS device. ## Summary - We do **not** require an account. - We do **not** collect, sell, or share personal data. - We do **not** use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. - All your preferences and cached content stay **on your device**. - The App fetches news from publishers' websites and feeds; those publishers receive standard network requests as part of normal browsing. ## Information the App Handles ### 1. Data stored locally on your device The App stores the following on your device only. It is never transmitted to us: - **Preferences** — your selected language, country/region, categories, theme, reading settings, and notification settings (stored in iOS `UserDefaults`). - **Reading state** — articles you have viewed, hidden, or blocked, used to keep the feed personalized to you. - **Content cache** — recently fetched headlines, article text, and images, cached so the App can work quickly and offline. Cached content is purged automatically over time. You can clear this data at any time by deleting the App. iOS will remove all locally stored preferences and cached content along with it. ### 2. Network requests to news publishers To show you news, the App fetches RSS feeds directly from the publishers you choose to read (for example, the news sources listed in the App's source catalogue). These requests are made from your device to those publishers. Each publisher will, as is standard for any web request, see your device's IP address, user agent, and the URL being requested, and may apply their own privacy policies, cookies, or logging. We do not control and are not responsible for those publishers' practices. We recommend reviewing the privacy policy of any publisher whose content you read frequently. We do not operate intermediary servers that log, store, or profile your reading activity. ### 3. Notifications If you enable notifications, the App schedules **local notifications** on your device about new articles in the topics you have chosen. These notifications are generated locally; we do not operate a push notification server, and no notification token or device identifier is sent to us. You can disable notifications at any time from iOS Settings → Notifications → Gornan, or from within the App's notification settings. ### 4. Background refresh The App may use iOS Background App Refresh to update the feed periodically. This activity uses the same publisher network requests described above and stores results in the local cache. You can disable Background App Refresh at any time in iOS Settings. ## What We Do Not Do - We do **not** collect your name, email, phone number, contacts, location, photos, microphone, or camera data. - We do **not** use cookies, advertising identifiers (IDFA), fingerprinting, or cross-app tracking. - We do **not** integrate any third-party analytics, crash-reporting, advertising, or marketing SDKs. - We do **not** sell, rent, or share user data with any third party, because we do not collect user data. ## Your Choices - **Reset the App:** Delete the App from your device to remove all locally stored preferences and cache. - **Notifications:** Turn off notifications in iOS Settings or the App's settings screen at any time. - **Background Refresh:** Turn off in iOS Settings → General → Background App Refresh. ## Changes to This Policy We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this document indicates when it was most recently revised. Material changes will be reflected in an updated version of the App.
