Reception staff were absolutely amazing! I’m frustrated I didn’t get their names at the end so I could give them the recognition they deserved but all the gentlemen staff were very attentive and polite and made an effort to learn visitors names and address them as such which I really appreciated!\nStaff at the rooftop restaurant were also very attentive! I did manage to get Rajip’s name who was nothing short of incredible! Also gave great recommendations on things to do during my stay in Malta which was very helpful and overhead him giving the same level of service to other tables everytime I was there! Thank you Rajib and also reception staff whose names I regrettably didn’t catch!.\nCons:\nThe fact that visitors have to pay to use the spa services at €40 per person for 1hour and half I think is pretty ridiculous. Considering I paid £1k+ for my stay here I think there should be complimentary free usage of spa services for a limited time per day. Yes, there’s a pool on the roof included in the stay which gets 0% shade and not the most comfortable in 30degress + weather. I also booked a room with the plunge pool on the balcony which is a foot bath at best! Very misleading.\nBreakfast:\nThe al carte breakfast menu really isn’t great at all! I’ve seen 3* buffets with better menus. Having table service is great but at the cost of breakfast options and smaller sizes…not worth it. Portions are small and limited. The waffles were lovely but you’re served a quarter of the waffle and when I asked for eggs to have on the side I was told I had to pick. I didn’t make a fuss but the next day Rajip was kind of enough to offer me both which another newer member didn’t (not her fault it’s how things are and should change) if you want a full English you have to pay for it which I think is ridiculous. Everything on the menu should be included in breakfast with larger portions.\nAll in all staff and the Michelin star restaurant (minus breakfast) make it 5*. The shower gel, hand soap, and shampoo are all the same product.\nOut of seven days, they did turndown service for us twice and the rest of the time they didn't come by. It's incomprehensible and for several days we had to ask for products because they wouldn't refill them even seeing they were used up (tissues, tea bags...).\nThe beach club is very nice but the temperature of the pool is incomprehensible, it's like real broth. You can't enjoy it after 9:30.\nThe breakfast buffet is very sparse for this type of hotel. Every day they put out the same thing, varying the scrambled eggs (watery) and the potatoes. There is no live cooking and one day the cereal bread is missing, another day the chia... They don't pay much attention.\nYou can't call the four machines they have a gym. Two cardio machines, a couple of benches, and a pulley that can't be used because they don't have different grips. It's useless and they don't pay attention to it. A shame because the idea isn't bad.\nGood for the daily water bottle, the spa, the terrace, and the beach club. Overall, we were not very satisfied. The check-in process was quite bumpy, and we did not receive the room we had booked. However, they accommodated us, and we received another room. Nevertheless, in terms of amenities and service, it is not a 4-star experience as stated. There are noticeable signs of wear and tear on the furniture and decor, etc. Additionally, the rooms are quite noisy, and the constant shuffling above is clearly audible. One searches for consistency in this hotel. On one hand, it offers a very nice lobby and a lot in terms of sports and fitness facilities, as well as a beach club. But the rooms and the service lag behind. The location of the hotel is very good; it is less than a 10-minute walk to the ferry terminal to cross over to Valletta. Despite everything, the rooms are clean, and the staff was friendly. However, it is negatively noted that they only superficially addressed my husband's gluten allergy. We would have liked to add breakfast for 15 euros, but upon inquiry, we were only told that there is a bit of selection of gluten-free items. We experienced this very differently in Malta and Gozo, and even in 3-star hotels, there was always sufficient gluten-free food provided. The hotel should reflect on this, especially since Malta is a leader in gluten-free products, and locals are even state-supported if they are affected by celiac disease, as it is already difficult for those affected to be sure they are not poisoned.", "rate": 3.0, "tripDate": "July 2026", "tripType": "Traveled as a couple", "ownerResponse": null }, { "title": "Great staff but poor room and operations", "text": "I would not recommend staying at this hotel. After entering, they said they believed the room was vacant, which points to a serious lapse in communication and hotel operations and was a major violation of my privacy.\nI was also assigned a room without a fridge and only learned this after checking in. The room itself was in unacceptable condition. The bathroom had a strong sewage odor, rusted fixtures, damaged walls, a toilet that would not flush properly, toothpaste stains left behind from a previous guest, and the curtains had visible food stains, raising serious concerns about cleanliness. The walls also provided very little sound insulation, making it easy to hear noise from both the hallway and neighboring rooms.\nThe customer service staff were friendly and professional, and location was convenient but they could not make up for the poor room condition, lack of privacy, and operational issues. If you say you have already taken the money they dispute this and ask for proof. In my case I had fortunately seen on my Monzo account the money had gone prior to checkout and could send them a screenshot. They seemed to accept this and allowed me to depart. However they then tried 2 more times to take payments from my card whilst I was travelling home. I have had to get a replacement card. Having never visited Malta before we didn’t really know the best place to base ourselves but this hotel worked perfect for us. Rooms were nice, although a bit on the small side and there wasn’t much clothes storage in our room. Really enjoyed the pool at the beach club, and the food and drinks from here were great. Didn’t try the rooftop pool due to the booking system, but I wouldn’t let this put you off as the beach club had plenty of beds. Whilst I enjoyed the music and the atmosphere at the pool, it was quite loud so if you were looking for a more relaxing pool Experince this could be an issue. The main issue with this hotel, which i have seen mentioned in previous reviews, was the payment on arrival. 5 days prior to arriving they charged my card for the night of the first stay. I was not aware this was going to happen so emailed the hotel and queried it. They told me that it wasn’t a charge it was a hold and no\nMoney has been taken, which wasn’t true. After back and forth they said they would put the money back on the car after we paid the full amount on check in. When we checked in they charged us the full amount, and never refunded the card. It took 3 days of us going back down to the reception to query why the original “deposit” hadn’t been refunded. To add to this the first 2 nights of our stay during the night random charges appeared on my card. The first was only £1 but the second was a random £80 charge. My card declined the payment so nothing was taken, but the hotel couldn’t explain why this had happened. Another thing to add was the staff who cleaned the rooms appeared to do this very late in the day, sometimes arriving at 5pm despite asking them multiple times prior in the day if they could do the room earlier, as we needed to get back in earlier on this particular evening. Didn’t affect us too much but definitely make sure to use the app to request the clean first thing in the day if you require this service. Overall a nice hotel and I would return, but the payment issues did cause some stress on holiday. I also found that it was in a bit of a muddy neighborhood with garbage bags everywhere etc. No it was not my thing and also after a night of trying to sleep ( I heard the neighbors snoring as if they were in my room ) booked another hotel and left . Bed hard but not horrendous. All amenities there except a hair dryer. Again room very small.\nBreakfast was a buffet, all staff friendly and attentive, but for me a huge failing is the use of powered eggs for the scrambled eggs, no other options for eggs, unless you asked for fried or poached and they happily made them fresh for you. Which was great, but not being given this as a choice or explained, I'd imagine people didn't know.\nTwo other things really bothered me, the first was free water, you arrive in your room and there is a bottle of water with Compliments, but with a note saying if you want more you will be charged for it. I find this outrageous, I've travelled all over the world and water has always been made available free of charge.\nLastly, checking out, we had a few pool side drinks and food so when I went to check out I was informed that the credit card that they took on arrival had been used and charged for all my items also any City tax that I needed to pay, asking why and could I not have used up my last cash euros, I was informed that a refund would take several days, nobody explained this before hand and not that it's a issue on my card, but I gave NEVER not being given an alternative method of payment before SHOCKING.", "rate": 3.0, "tripDate": "April 2026", "tripType": "Traveled as a couple", "ownerResponse": null }, { "title": "Don´t go there with children!!", "text": "The hotel is absolutely unfriendly to children. It has a lot of great points, the staff are amazing, the food was great and the location is very handy BUT it wasn't what we were expecting. From the Jet2 website it looked like a hotel that overlooked the sea and had 2 outdoor pools and an indoor pool (our Jet2 search criteria) which is why we booked it. However the big pool in the picture is a beach club which only opens in May and isn't attached to the hotel, the other outdoor pool is heated but adult only and the spa pool is very small and was only available to children 8-11am and 3-4pm. It was far from ideal. The other thing that isn't clear from the Jet2 website is that the hotel is in the middle of buildings and not next to the sea. We had 2 rooms, 1 looked straight onto apartment block balconies and the other faced the street, we had hoped for a balcony we could enjoy a drink on. The location is very handy for ferries, eateries, shops etc but is in the middle of the mêlée, not peaceful, overlooking the sea!\nThe other aspect that was a bit disappointing was the room itself, it was called a Family Suite but it wasn't a suite, it was a room with 2 big beds in it and a small bathroom. There was limited space for clothes, only hanging space (no drawers and and only 1 high shelf), there were 2 hooks for robes, not 4, no towel rail to hang wet towels, 2 chairs on the tiny balcony, there just wasn't enough space. It would be better to get rid of the 2nd big bed and put bunk beds in and add a chest of drawers. The room became very claustrophobic v quickly!\nI feel bad putting this negative review but wish I'd known what we had booked before arriving. The reason we chose it was it had 2 bedroom apartments as part of their offerings. Unfortunately when we arrived we were booked into the wrong apartment and it took 2 days to get us moved to the apartment we requested. Having said that the hotel has many good things going for it. First of all the location is great. There are numerous restaurants within a 10 minute walk, same for 2 banks and a great pharmacy just 2 blocks away. 2 convenience stores and 2 grocery stores are also less than a 10 minute walk away as is the Point Shopping Centre.\nWalking to the Strand either on the harbour side or the Mediterranean side is also a few minutes walk away and the ferry to Valetta is a 10 minute walk.\nThe hotel's amenities are good including a rooftop view with a terrific 360 view. There is also an indoor pool and spa. Both pools are on the small side and quite shallow, more for cooling off rather than swimming. The indoor pool is really more like a giant hot tub as it is quite narrow and heated to probably 80 or higher.\nWe only ate at Margaux and the food was quite good although we did find the menu to be a bit limited and it never changed in the entire time we were there.\nThe staff were eager to please and helpful. Occasionally a minor difficulty in communication but never a problem. A special shout out to Mohammed who took us to our room on that first day and then just seemed to keep an eye on us to make sure or stay went well.\nBecause we were there longer than most there were a few things to note. First is that it took 3 weeks to get the wifi in our apartment fixed. Until then we had to use the guest service option which was not as secure and often unstable so that was a frustration. The apartments themselves, while quiet and very clean they are sparsely furnished. For example in the 2 bedroom apartments there was 1 sofa, not sufficient for 4 people to sit on and not very comfortable. The kitchen was also quite sparse, so little things like salt and pepper, maybe some olive oil, napkins, oven mitts should be present but they were not. There is no direct phone from the apartment to the hotel so ether have to use the hotel app or use a cell phone to call the hotel directly, The hotel app is good but if you actually need to talk to someone then a phone call or go to the front desk is are the only options.", "rate": 4.0, "tripDate": "February 2026", "tripType": "Traveled as a couple", "ownerResponse": "Dear Guest,\nThank you for taking the time to share such a detailed review of your recent stay at 1926 Le Soleil Hotel & Spa. The 1926 Le Soleil Hotel & Spa in Sliema belongs firmly to the last category — and having now returned to the 1926 family for a second time, I can say without the faintest exaggeration that it ranks among the finest establishments I have ever had the pleasure of staying in.\nFrom the very first day, the level of attention was nothing short of extraordinary. The staff were, in the truest sense, at our beck and call: scarcely a day passed without someone discreetly ensuring that all was well. On more than one occasion the telephone in our room rang, and it was reception, calling simply to ask whether we required anything at all — whether something might be brought up, arranged, or seen to. It is one thing to be looked after; it is quite another to be anticipated. We felt, frankly, spoiled — granted a kind of effortless VIP treatment that never once tipped over into intrusion.\nThe housekeeping team deserves particular praise. They were unfailingly warm and — a genuinely welcome surprise — every one of them spoke excellent English. This turned even the smallest logistics into a pleasure rather than a negotiation: we could agree on cleaning times, coordinate the replenishment of coffee capsules, and request fresh towels without the slightest friction.\nThen there was the beach bar, where we spent several happy hours almost every single day, entirely free of charge. What so many hotels and resorts treat as a premium privilege — charging upwards of 25 EUR per person — was here simply part of the experience: comfortable loungers, parasols both by the sea and around the pool, and food that was, without overstatement, superb. I developed a particular weakness for the grilled salmon, served with crisp salad sides and fries, though the mussels were every bit its equal; my wife worked her way steadily through the menu over the course of our stay and pronounced every dish a delight. The cocktails, too, were sublime — and on one memorable occasion we were treated, entirely gratis, to drinks made from the local prickly-pear cactus. It was a charming gesture in itself, rendered all the more delightful by the fact that the drinks proved utterly remarkable.\nA hotel cannot, of course, take credit for the weather — but it can take full advantage of it, and Le Soleil does so with real flair. Through the hotel's own app we discovered and booked a day-long cruise aboard the Hera II, a circumnavigation of Malta lasting some nine hours. The day encompassed not only snacks and a proper lunch but also diving at Golden Bay, swimming in the celebrated Blue Lagoon off the island of Comino, and bathing in the open sea, descending directly from the deck by ladder into deep water. It was an unforgettable experience — one we would almost certainly never have stumbled upon had it not been so seamlessly offered through the hotel's own platform.\nBreakfast and dinner, taken in the hotel's Margaux restaurant, were consistently excellent: a generous and varied selection, unlimited helpings, and service of real warmth. One small detail captures the spirit of the place perfectly. On our very first morning, our waiter noted that I take my coffee with almond milk — and from that day forward he asked, entirely of his own accord, each and every morning, whether he should bring it prepared just so. That he remembered us at all was gratifying; that he had committed my preferences and dietary needs to memory was, quite simply, remarkable.\nThe spa was a haven. We rested thoroughly, though to our slight regret we never quite found the time to experience the massages first-hand — an omission we fully intend to remedy on our next visit, for return we most certainly shall. We did, however, make the most of the hotel's own pool and sauna, which offered a wonderfully intimate, understated, and private atmosphere — an excellent experience in every respect.\nAnd finally — most important of all — the reception. Put plainly, it was the finest front-desk service we have ever encountered anywhere. The only team to rival it is that of the sister property, 1926 Les Bains, just across the street. These were people who not only remembered us from our previous stay a year earlier — and I mean genuinely remembered, for a receptionist recognised us, approached with a smile, welcomed us warmly, and told us how lovely it was to see us both again — but who were also tirelessly helpful, arranging our taxis to and from the airport, striking up genuinely enjoyable conversations, and forever asking whether there was anything further they could do. Beyond their professionalism, they were simply good company: good people, exactly where they belong.\n1926 Le Soleil is, without hesitation, one of the very best hotels I have ever stayed in. The staff are wonderful and the amenities great. The area it is located in is a little rundown. We booked a deluxe room which is no different to a standard room except that one wall is papered. A couple of minor points, the room was on the small side and the shower floor slippy and it was hard not to flood the bathroom when having a shower. There is little storage for your clothes which have to be kept on open shelving. All quite minor points really which taken together would still mean a five star review.\nHowever our experience on arrival needs to be noted so that others are aware. When we booked direct with the hotel we were told we could pay on arrival which we did. We were told that the payment hadn’t gone through and we were asked to pay again, which we did. We were again told that the payment hadn’t gone through so could we do it again ? I pointed out that the terminal had said approved on both occasions. A male member of staff ( slightly more assertive ) asked us to check our banking app which we did and showed him that the payment had been taken (1900€) This wasn’t good enough he said as the payment said pending. We pointed out that this is normal banking procedure. Unfortunately the member of staff just wouldn’t listen. We were told we couldn’t have access to our room until we paid again. Obviously this was very upsetting, my husband then called the bank in the UK and had to have this personal conversation in a busy foyer. The bank assured us the payment had gone through. I eventually asked for a manager who did smooth things over, offering us complimentary drinks and a complimentary taxi for our return journey to the airport. However over the next couple of days we had calls from the fraud dept at our bank advising that the payment had indeed gone through twice but the bank had stopped the second payment due to fraud protocols. The main issue here is that the hotel would not accept that they had indeed tried to put the payment through twice saying that just wasn’t possible. So beware if you intend to pay on arrival as the hotel doesn’t seem to understand how the international banking system works and you could potentially be left high and dry in a foreign country. This situation cast a nasty shadow on our holiday which was hard to overcome.", "rate": 4.0, "tripDate": "May 2026", "tripType": "Traveled as a couple", "ownerResponse": null }, { "title": "Ideal location in Sliema with extremely comfortable room and excellent customer service from all staff.", "text": "I had a great experience at 1926 Le Soleil.
