# Design verification (2026-09-10) Candidate: `715050d`. An isolated, read-only reviewer assessed the adopted design against the complete [Karpathy source](https://gist.github.com/karpathy/442a6bf555914893e9891c11519de94f), the repository documents and the pinned [nashsu/llm_wiki reference](https://github.com/nashsu/llm_wiki/tree/e8082119649e6a8e1cf85eaf289adcabfdf39d4e). ## Verdict Design approved; no actionable design-fidelity or implementation-status misrepresentation was identified in that review. This is not approval of a completed Wiki runtime. - The raw evidence / maintained Wiki / rules separation, incremental linked synthesis and Ingest / Query / Lint workflows reflect the primary source. Optional directories and tools were not presented as mandatory author requirements. - The core design explicitly identifies stricter authorization, transaction, provenance and read-only query guarantees as MemoBranch's engineering decisions. - The reviewer checked the four named reference files and their roles at the pinned revision, and confirmed its GPLv3 license. This was a behavior-reference review, not a repository-wide copyright audit; no reference source was incorporated by this design change. - Source spot checks found atomic evidence extraction and an atomic-memory catalog, not a full cross-source Wiki compiler. The README, gap matrix and unchecked implementation tasks correctly retain that distinction. ## Historical pending runtime acceptance (2026-09-10) The compiler, multi-type pages, operational rules, catalog-first navigation, cited-answer filing, semantic lint and multi-page transaction integration remain unimplemented or unaccepted as listed in `tasks.md`. Their proposed OpenSpec scenarios have not been reported as executed tests. They require implementation, executable boundary and retention tests, installed-package checks and another isolated review before a full-compliance claim. ## Runtime candidate (2026-09-21) Accepted runtime: `73d6b73c9221507fb83c7e40f4ef02eaa5c6c3c6` (`codex/deepseek-harness-plugin`), following `3216198`. Documentation candidates `91969dbb5a42e3f81c05fcc58b15f0377c3b3c01` and `cd89f79eb5d31b324e6d6d9d12704f3f8df1c32c` have identical runtime, tests, scripts and package inputs. **Local implementation acceptance approved for `cd89f79`**: all 44 criteria have executable evidence, the required local environment gates completed, and the isolated reviewer found no remaining confirmed defect, mandatory feature gap or local-gate evidence gap in the reviewed scope. No push or release is part of this acceptance run. The isolated review of `090859d` returned four confirmed defects: inconsistent query/filing limits; retries resetting the total provider timeout; imported conflicted support leaving active dependent claims; and missing reviewable version/source manifests. It also found missing E1→E2→E4 provider-protocol evidence. The candidate addresses these in local commits `a8b30a2`, `4a2517a`, `dd55775` and `3216198`; the next independent review must verify closure rather than trusting this description. The isolated read-only review of `3216198` subsequently reproduced references to nonexistent future page/rule revisions remaining active and remotely importable. It did not finish or approve the candidate: the reviewer stopped with a workspace-credit error. Commit `881e9cf` adds future-reference rejection at authenticated/public/doctor/sync boundaries while retaining older valid references. The focused pre-fix run failed four cases; the complete updated Wiki import/incremental/governance/recovery selection then passed 44/44, zero skips, with strict build and test typing (27,734.335875 ms). The first exact-candidate macOS/main full suite on `3216198` failed: 439 tests, 438 passed, one Git SSH timeout cleanup failure (79,184.225250 ms). This result is retained, not relabeled as a pass. A diagnostic-only signal observer reproduced `kill(-pgid, 0)` returning `EPERM`. [Apple's process-group implementation](https://github.com/apple-oss-distributions/xnu/blob/main/bsd/kern/kern_sig.c) excludes zombies and can return that errno when no eligible member remains. Commit `73d6b73` uses a bounded process-state check on Darwin; a real permission failure is not ignored. The deterministic zombie-probe regression failed before the change, and the live-group denial control passed. After the change, Git/transaction/sync/Harness cancellation tests passed 33/33 (12,428.101959 ms); all nine Git cancellation tests passed in five consecutive runs (14,058.215084 / 12,281.199625 / 12,129.335167 / 12,172.890458 / 11,877.969709 ms). The later full-gate results are recorded below. Executed development evidence before the candidate was committed: - The four new manifest/filing tests failed on the previous implementation, then passed after the changes. `wiki-review-regressions` plus the original `wiki-schema-boundaries` passed 125/125, no skips, on macOS arm64 / Node 22.17.0 (43,058.989250 ms). - Provider, Wiki provider and operation-boundary suites passed 113/113; the new delayed HTTP/network/body deadline cases were repeated three times. The old implementation consumed 422–456 ms for a 100 ms request budget; the corrected delayed-error cases completed near 101–117 ms. Timing observations are not hard real-time guarantees. - The combined Wiki/governance/review/import/incremental suites passed 38/38, no skips (9,880.438375 ms), with strict build and test typing. A later run with the additional malformed manifest and dependency-only assertions passed test typing and all selected schema/import/incremental tests (exit 0). These development runs do not substitute for the exact-candidate gates below. ### Acceptance-to-evidence index Paths below are repository-relative. This is an index into executable assertions, **not a claim that every criterion has passed final independent acceptance**. `D`, `P`, `A` and `R` retain the definitions in `acceptance-matrix.md`. The whole file is run unless a test name is quoted; named tests contain the relevant positive and negative assertions. Final gate results and reviewer findings take precedence over this index. | ID | Executable evidence and observable assertion | | --- | --- | | W01 | D: `test/wiki.test.ts` “six page purposes”; `test/wiki-incremental-provider.test.ts` reads source/entity/concept/synthesis/comparison bodies through fresh processes; `test/wiki-adapters.test.ts` and installed workflows persist query pages. | | W02 | D/R: `test/wiki-governance.test.ts` version 1/2 atomic migration and legacy evidence migration; `test/production.test.ts` config migration; `test/audit-regressions.test.ts` legacy evidence upgrade. The final isolated `cd89f79` review additionally verified all five raw local gate logs and all 166 archived source-file object hashes, then approved the defined local implementation acceptance with explicit limitations. See the dated review records below. | ### Isolated review of `91969db` (2026-09-21) The existing isolated, read-only reviewer resumed successfully after its earlier workspace-credit failure. It independently verified the clean commit and the unchanged runtime/test/script/package inputs, inspected the original requirements and raw macOS gate logs, and reported **no remaining confirmed code defect in the reviewed scope**. This is a bounded code-review verdict, not full acceptance or proof that unknown defects cannot exist. The reviewer explicitly left G06 open for Linux Node 20/master and Node 22/main. Executed by the reviewer in `/Users/imac/code/memobranch`: ```sh /Users/imac/.nvm/versions/node/v22.17.0/bin/node --import tsx --test --test-concurrency=1 test/wiki-import-lifecycle.test.ts test/wiki-review-regressions.test.ts /Users/imac/.nvm/versions/node/v22.17.0/bin/node --import tsx /private/tmp/memobranch-wiki-independent-3216198.mts dependency /Users/imac/.nvm/versions/node/v22.17.0/bin/node --import tsx /private/tmp/memobranch-wiki-independent-3216198.mts rule ``` The test command passed 30/30, with zero failures/cancellations/skips, in 19,160.912458 ms (exit 0). Both original independent reproductions now stop at sync validation with `REMOTE_CONFLICT: Synchronized vault failed health validation`. The original scripts do not catch that newly expected rejection, so **both reproduction processes exit 1**, not 0; their observed rejection demonstrates closure of the earlier acceptance defect. Their exact durations were not recorded. Raw reviewer TAP/reproduction output remains in the task's tool records; no separate log file was saved. The reviewer changed no repository files, tests, permissions or release gates. ### Final isolated acceptance of `cd89f79` (2026-09-21) After both Linux gates completed, the same context-isolated, read-only reviewer inspected the original requirements, the 44-criterion matrix and all five raw local logs. It independently matched all 166 tracked files in the Linux archive to `cd89f79` Git object hashes and verified runtime/test/script/dependency/build-input equality with `73d6b73`. The earlier independent reproduction and code findings remained closed. Verdict: **approve the defined local implementation acceptance**. No remaining confirmed defect, mandatory functional gap or local-gate evidence gap was identified in the reviewed 44 criteria. The reviewer explicitly limited approval to macOS arm64 and Docker Debian arm64, not GitHub-hosted CI, Ubuntu x64, hosted-model semantic quality or production deployment. It ran no new tests in this final evidence-only review and modified no repository files, tests, permissions or gates. This verdict does not authorize push/publication and does not prove the absence of unknown defects. ### Exact-candidate release gates macOS Node 22 full-gate logs: `/private/tmp/memobranch-wiki-gates-73d6b73-GRWmjw`. Environment variables set `init.defaultBranch` through `GIT_CONFIG_COUNT/GIT_CONFIG_KEY_0/GIT_CONFIG_VALUE_0`. | Environment / Git default | Full test result | Other gates | Raw log / process exit | | --- | --- | --- | --- | | macOS arm64 / Node 22.17.0 / main | 446/446, zero failures/skips; 103,894.037750 ms | Production audit: 0 vulnerabilities; strict OpenSpec: 8/8; pack + independently installed API/CLI/MCP/Harness: 84 entries, passed | `macos22-main.log`; exit 0 | | macOS arm64 / Node 22.17.0 / master | 446/446, zero failures/skips; 94,418.251416 ms | Production audit: 0 vulnerabilities; strict OpenSpec: 8/8; pack + independently installed API/CLI/MCP/Harness: 84 entries, passed | `macos22-master.log`; exit 0 | | macOS arm64 / Node 20.20.2 / master (supplementary) | 446/446, zero failures/skips; 70,226.423375 ms | Fresh `npm ci`; production audit: 0 vulnerabilities; strict OpenSpec: 8/8; pack + independently installed API/CLI/MCP/Harness: 84 entries, passed | `/private/tmp/memobranch-node20-acceptance-lmrr6j/macos20-master.log`; exit 0 | | Linux Debian bookworm arm64 / Node 20.20.2 / master | 444 passed, zero failures, 2 Darwin-only skips out of 446; 31,418.597598 ms | Fresh `npm ci`; production audit: 0 vulnerabilities; strict OpenSpec: 8/8; pack + independently installed API/CLI/MCP/Harness: 84 entries, passed | `linux20-master.log`; exit 0 | | Linux Debian bookworm arm64 / Node 22.23.2 / main | 444 passed, zero failures, 2 Darwin-only skips out of 446; 26,521.274678 ms | Fresh `npm ci`; production audit: 0 vulnerabilities; strict OpenSpec: 8/8; pack + independently installed API/CLI/MCP/Harness: 84 entries, passed | `linux22-main.log`; exit 0 | The supplementary Node 20 gate used an isolated `git archive` of `91969db`, a fresh dependency install and the official Darwin arm64 v20.20.2 distribution verified against its HTTPS `SHASUMS256.txt`. It ran the same check/audit/OpenSpec/pack/installed-package sequence and produced the same 84-entry tarball SHA-1 (`df902ba1bd5f0f9162be287a124e5f212b60138c`). It is additional minimum-runtime evidence, **not a substitute for Linux**. The older Linux run for `3216198` ended with Docker's `unexpected EOF` (exit 125); the concurrent status request ended with a daemon connection error (exit 1). Neither is a passed gate. A later read-only `/_ping` returned `OK` after Docker recovered externally; no restart was performed by this task. Both new Linux gates used the same isolated `git archive` of `cd89f79`, copied from a read-only mount into a disposable container, with fresh dependencies and a 15-minute execution limit. Both containers exited 0 and were automatically removed. Official image digests: Node 20 `sha256:8f693eaa7e0a8e71560c9a82b55fd54c2ae920a2ba5d2cde28bac7d1c01c9ba5`; Node 22 `sha256:dd5847a04b0deee391fa145f1f4c6d214196668b6bcc7988ebed67249f226844`. The two Linux skips are exactly “Darwin zombie-only process-group EPERM does not replace the original cancellation” and “Darwin EPERM with a live process group remains a cleanup failure”. They require Darwin and passed in all three macOS runs; they are not counted as Linux passes. The Linux containers are Debian/arm64, not Ubuntu/x64 GitHub runners. These local platform/runtime/default-branch checks do not establish a GitHub-hosted Actions result. Hosted-model observation (`L`) has not been run. Deterministic fixtures and local HTTP services establish runtime/protocol behavior, not real-model synthesis quality. Windows process-tree behavior, remote production credentials, distributed writes and actual power-loss durability have not been tested by this run. The matrix does not make those release requirements; their limitations remain explicit. ### Documentation and final package closeout (2026-09-21) Commit `ff9228990d75757a80df3b300d479ff1e7ec83a2` updates only README/guide/design/OpenSpec status to reflect the approved local scope. Runtime, tests, scripts, dependencies and build configuration are unchanged. Because README and the guide are packaged, the final tarball was reverified rather than reusing its earlier identity. Four closeout runs completed with exit 0: macOS arm64 / Node 22.17.0 / main and master; Linux Debian arm64 / Node 20.20.2 / master; Linux Debian arm64 / Node 22.23.2 / main. Each ran `npm run build`, `npm run test:types`, `npm audit --omit=dev`, strict OpenSpec, `npm pack --dry-run` and `npm run test:package`; Linux used a fresh dependency installation in isolated containers. Each reported 0 production vulnerabilities, OpenSpec 8/8, 84 packed entries and successful independently installed API/CLI/MCP/Harness persistent workflows. Raw logs are `/private/tmp/memobranch-wiki-closeout-4YVGIE/macos22-main.log`, `macos22-master.log`, `linux20-master.log` and `linux22-main.log`. Final package SHA-1: `456613f7d9106fa0be59e8edf7130c84cead0b8d` (84 entries). The earlier package SHA-1 `df902ba1bd5f0f9162be287a124e5f212b60138c` belongs to the pre-closeout README/guide. **These closeout runs did not rerun the 446-test suite**; the full matrix above remains applicable to the unchanged runtime and tests. Package identity and installed-consumer evidence are recorded separately. The isolated reviewer read the entire `cd89f79..ff92289` documentation diff, checked all 166 isolated source files against the candidate's Git object hashes, verified the unchanged runtime/build inputs and inspected all four completed logs. Verdict: **approve documentation and package closeout; no required repair identified**. The reviewer retained the local-only scope and the distinction between prior full-suite evidence and new package evidence. This review changed no files and executed no new tests. Subsequent evidence-only record updates do not change the package or implementation and do not authorize push/publication.
