# Prefer `RegExp#test()` over `String#match()` and `RegExp#exec()` 💼 This rule is enabled in the following [configs](https://github.com/sindresorhus/eslint-plugin-unicorn#recommended-config): ✅ `recommended`, ☑️ `unopinionated`. 🔧💡 This rule is automatically fixable by the [`--fix` CLI option](https://eslint.org/docs/latest/user-guide/command-line-interface#--fix) and manually fixable by [editor suggestions](https://eslint.org/docs/latest/use/core-concepts#rule-suggestions). When you want to know whether a pattern is found in a string, use [`RegExp#test()`](https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/JavaScript/Reference/Global_Objects/RegExp/test) instead of [`String#match()`](https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/JavaScript/Reference/Global_Objects/String/match) and [`RegExp#exec()`](https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/JavaScript/Reference/Global_Objects/RegExp/exec), as it exclusively returns a boolean and therefore is more efficient. ## Examples ```js // ❌ if (string.match(/unicorn/)) {} // ❌ if (/unicorn/.exec(string)) {} // ✅ if (/unicorn/.test(string)) {} ``` ```vue ```
