C4ST ("the App") is a coastal forecast application that provides weather, swell, tide, and wind data for Australian beaches and waterways.

## Data We Collect

### Location Data
- **Your Location (Optional)**: When you enable "Nearby Spots", we request your device's GPS location. This is processed entirely on your device and never sent to our servers.
- **Favorites**: Your saved beaches are stored locally on your device.

### Usage Data
- **Settings**: Your preferences (temperature units, time format, dark mode) are saved locally on your device.

### Third-Party Data
We use:
- **Open-Meteo**: Weather and swell forecasts (receives your GPS coordinates)
- **Marine API**: Wave and swell data (receives your GPS coordinates)

## Data We Don't Collect

- Personal information (names, emails, phone numbers)
- Tracking or analytics data
- Cloud sync or account data

## How We Use Your Data

1. Location is used only to calculate distances and fetch local forecasts
2. Settings are stored locally for your preferences
3. GPS coordinates sent to Open-Meteo and Marine API for weather/swell data only

## Data Storage

- All app data stored locally on your device
- No cloud servers or databases
- Data stays on your device unless you request forecast APIs

**Open-Meteo**
- Provides weather forecasts
- Receives your GPS coordinates per request

- Provides wave/swell data
- Receives your GPS coordinates per request

## Data Retention

- Local data: Kept on your device until you uninstall
- API logs: Open-Meteo retains per their policy (typically 30 days)
- Cache: Forecasts cached locally for 1 hour (6 hours if API unavailable)

## Your Rights

You can:
- View data stored on your device
- Delete all data by uninstalling the app
- Disable location sharing in device settings

## Security

- Location data processed locally, never stored on our servers
- API requests use HTTPS encryption
- No personal data storage or sharing

## Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of updates.
