Looptober? Why not! I saw it mentioned somewhere, but I couldn’t really find any "rules" so I decided to interpret it literally. Thus, from the first of October to the last of October, I created one short loop every day as a way of getting to know the Elektron Syntakt. Below are the fruits of that sometimes frustrating labor, along with the original comments where available. But first a summary.

## Conclusion

The stats show I’m depressingly consistent. The average BPM, 84.1, is pretty close to the mean BPM, 85. The difference between the lowest BPM and the average is 25, the difference between the highest BPM and the average is 26. Like a perfectly adequately calibrated but slightly underwhelming pendulum.

A crushing majority of the loops are in 4/4 time, with only four in 3/4 time and one in 5/4 time. Probably what you’d expect, especially from someone so defiantly average.

I didn’t keep track of what keys the loops are in, but if I’d have to guess I’d say C is probably the most common.

If we look at the commit times, the average commit time is 11:46:04 and the mean commit time is 11:40:00 -- most commits are clustered around noon. There are some outliers, however. The loop for October 2, aptly named Grvyrdshft[^grvyrdshft], is committed at a record-smashing 00:26:48.

All in all, it was a fun experiment, and a really good way to get to learn a new synth -- similar to how *gavage* is a really good way of making foie gras.

That’s it, hope I didn’t steal anyone’s melody!

[^grvyrdshft]: There has been some debate, though, as to whether Grvyrdshft really is short for *Graveyard Shift*. Some claim it stands for *Groovy Redshift* or even *Gravy Rodshaft* which I can only assume means something inappropriate.

Here are the thirty one loops in order from first to last. I tried to keep the volume consistent, but some sounds are a bit loud and piercing so take caution.
