ForgetMeNot — Privacy Policy

In short: ForgetMeNot does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any of your data. Your notes never leave your device. There are no accounts, no servers, and no tracking.

1. What data we collect

None. ForgetMeNot has no accounts and no sign-in. We do not collect personal information, analytics, usage statistics, telemetry, crash reports, or advertising identifiers.

2. Your notes and where they are stored

The notes you create (their title, body, category, and status such as pinned or done) are stored locally on your own device using the browser's chrome.storage.local API. This data:

stays on your computer, inside your browser profile;
is never transmitted to us or to any third party;
is not readable by us — we have no server and no access to it;
is removed if you delete a note, clear the extension's data, or uninstall the extension.

3. Network activity

ForgetMeNot makes no network requests. It works fully offline. The only time your browser opens an external page is if you explicitly click the “Send feedback” link in Settings, which opens our Chrome Web Store listing in a new tab so you can leave a public review. That is a normal navigation you initiate — no data about you is sent by the extension.

4. Permissions and why they are used

storage — to save your notes locally on your device.
activeTab + scripting — to show the note panel only on the tab where you click the toolbar icon. The extension does not read or collect the content of the pages you visit; it only draws its own panel over the page.
sidePanel — to show the panel in Chrome's side panel on pages where an in-page panel cannot be shown (for example chrome:// pages).

ForgetMeNot does not request broad host access (no <all_urls> permission).

5. Data sharing and selling

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your data with anyone. Because we never receive your data in the first place, there is nothing for us to share.

6. Children's privacy

ForgetMeNot does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children.

7. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this URL with a new “Last updated” date. Material changes will be reflected in the extension's store listing.
