How to use Unwind
A private space to think out loud — like a journal that listens back. Everything stays on your device.
Not therapy, and not for emergencies. Unwind is a wellness and self-reflection companion — not a medical device, not a diagnostic or treatment tool, and not a substitute for professional care. It can't diagnose or treat anything and can't replace a licensed clinician. If you're in danger right now, call your local emergency number. For ongoing concerns, please reach out to a qualified professional in your area.
1. Open it
Click the Unwind icon in the toolbar to open the side panel in the current tab. Use the expand icon (top right) to move the conversation into a full window, and collapse to go back.
2. Choose how it thinks (once)
Open Settings & keys and pick one:
- Bring your own AI key — paste an OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google key for the richest replies. Pick the provider with the radio button; the best model is selected for you.
- Chrome's built-in AI (Gemini Nano) — fully private, no key, no setup. It's used automatically when no key is set or a request fails.
3. Talk
- Type in the box and press Enter to send. Each reply shows which engine answered.
- Tap the microphone to speak instead — voice is transcribed on your device.
- Start a New conversation any time; rename, clear, or delete one from the ⋯ menu; edit or delete individual messages on hover.
4. Memory & mood
- Memory — set your name, the tone you like, what you're working on, and what to avoid. Unwind also remembers recurring themes so it feels continuous. Everything is editable or deletable, and you can turn memory off.
- Mood check-in — note how you feel; a gentle weekly view is just for you.
5. Your data
In Settings → Your data you can export everything (keys excluded), trim old conversations, or delete everything — conversations, memory, mood logs, and keys — in one tap.
