Starfall Org Contributor Commercial Copyleft License v1.0 Copyright (c) 2026 Starfall Org. All rights reserved. NOTICE This is a source-available, copyleft-style license with a contributor-only commercial-use permission. It is NOT the GNU General Public License (GPL), is NOT approved by the Open Source Initiative, and is NOT a Free Software license. The commercial-use restriction is intentionally different from GNU GPLv3. 1. Definitions "Software" means the source code, object code, and other copyrightable material in this repository that Starfall Org owns or is authorized to license under these terms. "Official Repository" means the repository maintained by Starfall Org from which this License is distributed. "Qualifying Code Contribution" means a contribution that: (a) changes program source code, tests, build logic, or other technical code; (b) is submitted under an identity attributable to a natural person or legal entity; (c) is accepted by the maintainers and merged into the Official Repository; and (d) is not solely documentation, translation, issue reporting, discussion, review, sponsorship, formatting, generated metadata, or another non-code-only contribution. An automated or bot account does not independently become a Contributor. A natural person or legal entity using automation may qualify only when the Qualifying Code Contribution is attributable to that person or entity. "Contributor" means: (a) a natural person who has made at least one Qualifying Code Contribution; or (b) a legal entity on whose behalf at least one Qualifying Code Contribution was made, provided the entity owns or controls the copyright in that contribution or the contributor was authorized to submit it on the entity's behalf. An individual's contribution does not automatically make that individual's employer, client, or affiliated organization a Contributor unless paragraph (b) applies. Contributor status is not transferable or sublicensable. "Commercial Use" means use of the Software primarily intended for or directed toward commercial advantage, business operations, or monetary compensation, including internal business use, paid products or services, advertising-funded products or services, paid hosting, consulting, integration, support, or other revenue-generating activity. "Corresponding Source" means the preferred form of the Software for making modifications, including the scripts and project files reasonably required to build the distributed object code, but excluding generally available system libraries and tools used unmodified. 2. General Non-Commercial Permission Subject to this License, any person or entity may, for Non-Commercial purposes: (a) use and run the Software; (b) inspect, study, copy, and modify the Software; and (c) redistribute the Software or modified versions of it, in source or object form, provided all requirements in Sections 4 through 7 are satisfied. No Commercial Use is permitted under this Section. Anyone who is not a Contributor and wants Commercial Use must first obtain a commercial license under Section 3A. 3. Contributor Commercial Permission A Contributor may use, run, modify, reproduce, and redistribute the Software for Commercial Use, subject to all other terms of this License. The Contributor commercial permission: (a) begins when the Qualifying Code Contribution is merged into the Official Repository; (b) applies to the Contributor identified in Section 1, not automatically to employers, clients, parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, customers, or other third parties; (c) does not transfer to a recipient merely because the recipient obtains the Software from a Contributor; and (d) does not remove the copyleft, source-availability, notice, or attribution obligations in this License. Starfall Org, as licensor, may use the Software commercially and may grant separate permissions to the extent it owns or controls the relevant rights. 3A. Commercial Use by Non-Contributors A person or entity that is not a Contributor may not engage in Commercial Use of the Software unless they first contact Starfall Org (the author and licensor) to request or purchase commercial-use rights, and Starfall Org grants those rights in a written commercial license or agreement. Starfall Org may grant or refuse that permission at its discretion and may set a fee and other terms. To request or purchase commercial-use rights, contact the maintainers through the Official Repository (for example, by opening an issue or using the contact details published on the maintainers' GitHub profile or organization page). Commercial Use before a written commercial license is granted is a violation of this License. A commercial license granted under this Section applies only to the person or entity named in it and to the scope it states. It does not make that person or entity a Contributor, and it does not remove the copyleft, source-availability, notice, or attribution obligations of this License unless the written license expressly says so. 4. Copyleft for Modified Versions If you redistribute a modified version of the Software, you must: (a) clearly state that you modified the Software and identify the date of the modification; (b) license the entire modified work, to the extent it is based on the Software, under this same License; (c) keep all copyright, authorship, attribution, and license notices intact; and (d) not impose additional terms that restrict a recipient from exercising the permissions this License grants to that recipient. You may not relicense the Software or a derivative work under a different license unless every relevant copyright holder has separately authorized that relicensing. 5. Distribution of Source Code You may redistribute source code only if you provide a complete copy of this License with it and satisfy Section 4. 6. Distribution of Object Code If you redistribute object code, including an application package or other binary form, you must also make the Corresponding Source available to every recipient at no additional charge, using one of these methods: (a) accompany the object code with the Corresponding Source; or (b) provide a clear, durable network location from which the recipient may obtain the Corresponding Source for at least three years after your last distribution of that object-code version. The Corresponding Source must be provided under this same License. 7. No Removal of Recipient Conditions Redistribution does not grant a recipient Contributor status. A recipient who is not independently a Contributor may exercise only the non-commercial rights in Section 2, even when the Software was distributed by a Contributor in a commercial transaction. You may charge for copies, hosting, support, or services only if you are a Contributor or hold a commercial license granted under Section 3A (or other separate written commercial permission from the relevant copyright holders). Charging a recipient does not itself grant that recipient Commercial Use rights. 8. Network Use Running a modified or unmodified copy of the Software to provide a network service, without distributing a copy of the Software, does not by itself trigger the source-distribution requirements in Sections 4 through 6. However, operating such a service for Commercial Use still requires Contributor status or a commercial license granted under Section 3A. 9. Contributions A contribution is licensed under this License when its copyright holder submits it for inclusion in the Official Repository with knowledge that the repository uses this License, unless the maintainers and contributor expressly agree in writing to different terms. Nothing in this Section transfers ownership of a contribution to Starfall Org. A contributor must have the legal right to submit the contribution. 10. Third-Party Material and Existing Rights This License applies only to material that Starfall Org or another copyright holder has validly placed under this License. Third-party components remain subject to their own license terms. If any portion of the repository was previously distributed under another license by a copyright holder and Starfall Org lacks authority to relicense that portion, this License does not revoke rights already granted under that earlier license or override that copyright holder's terms. 11. Patents Each copyright holder who intentionally submits a Qualifying Code Contribution under this License grants recipients a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive patent license to make, use, and distribute that contribution only to the extent necessary to exercise rights actually granted to that recipient by this License. No patent rights are granted for activities that this License does not permit. 12. No Trademark License This License does not grant permission to use the names, logos, trademarks, or service marks of Starfall Org or any contributor, except as reasonably necessary to preserve required attribution notices. 13. Termination Your rights under this License terminate automatically if you materially violate it. Rights may be reinstated if you cure the violation within 30 days after becoming aware of it, unless a relevant copyright holder notifies you in writing that the violation is not curable or has caused material harm that cannot reasonably be remedied. Termination does not affect licenses already validly granted to recipients for copies they received before termination. 14. Disclaimer of Warranty THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. YOU BEAR THE ENTIRE RISK AS TO THE QUALITY AND PERFORMANCE OF THE SOFTWARE. 15. Limitation of Liability TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, NO COPYRIGHT HOLDER OR CONTRIBUTOR SHALL BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING FROM THE SOFTWARE OR THIS LICENSE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. 16. Rights Preserved by Law Nothing in this License restricts any right that applicable law gives you without permission from a copyright holder, including applicable copyright exceptions and limitations.
