# Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how StudioJin ("we", "us", or "our") handles information related to SyncWatcher ("SyncWatcher", "the App", or "the Service").

## Language Notice

This Privacy Policy may be provided in multiple languages. In the event of any inconsistency or conflict between the English version and the Korean version, the Korean version will prevail.

## 1. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to:

- the SyncWatcher macOS application;
- GitHub DMG distribution and optional Lemon Squeezy support purchases;
- Apple Mac App Store distribution and optional in-app purchases; and
- support communications related to the App.

It does not apply to third-party services that have their own privacy policies, including Lemon Squeezy, Apple, GitHub, and payment providers they operate.

## 2. Information We Process

We aim to keep data collection minimal.

### 2.1 Information processed locally on your device

SyncWatcher primarily works with your files and folders on your own device. Information processed locally may include:

- sync task configuration such as source paths, target paths, sync options, and removable-media identity hints;
- app settings and preferences;
- local runtime or operational state needed to run the App;
- sandbox-related security-scoped bookmarks or other path-access records required by macOS; and
- local supporter status related to your purchase channel.

This local information is not sent to us unless you separately choose to share it with us for support.

### 2.2 GitHub DMG purchases and Lemon Squeezy licensing

If you obtain SyncWatcher outside the Mac App Store and choose to make an optional support purchase, Lemon Squeezy acts as the merchant of record and may process:

- your name;
- your email address;
- order and transaction details;
- tax and billing information required for the transaction; and
- license-related records connected to the purchase.

When you activate or validate a Lemon Squeezy license, the App may transmit:

- the license key you enter;
- a generated instance identifier assigned during activation;
- your device hostname, used as the instance name for licensing purposes; and
- product, store, and variant metadata returned by Lemon Squeezy.

The App may also store local Lemon Squeezy license state on your device, such as the last known validation status and activation metadata.

### 2.3 Mac App Store purchases

If you obtain SyncWatcher through the Apple Mac App Store and choose to buy the optional `Lifetime Supporter` in-app purchase, Apple processes billing, receipts, tax, and transaction data under Apple's own policies.

In the Mac App Store build, SyncWatcher uses StoreKit on-device transaction checks to determine whether supporter status is active. We do not run our own receipt-validation server for this feature at this time.

We may store only the resulting local supporter state needed to present the purchase or restore status inside the app.

### 2.4 Information you provide when contacting us

If you contact us for support, bug reports, or other questions, we may process the information you choose to provide, such as:

- your email address or GitHub username;
- the contents of your message; and
- screenshots, logs, or diagnostic details you voluntarily send us.

## 3. Information We Do Not Intentionally Collect

At the time of this policy:

- we do not intentionally collect usage analytics about how you use the App;
- we do not intentionally upload your files or file contents to our own servers; and
- we do not operate a SyncWatcher account system or cloud profile service.

If this changes in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy before or when the change takes effect.

## 4. How We Use Information

We use information only as reasonably necessary to:

- provide the App and its core functionality;
- support optional purchase verification or restore flows for the channel you use;
- respond to support requests and product inquiries;
- maintain security, prevent fraud, and enforce our Terms;
- comply with legal obligations; and
- improve reliability based on feedback you voluntarily provide.

## 5. Legal Bases

Where applicable, we process personal information on one or more of the following bases:

- performance of a contract, such as fulfilling a purchase or reflecting supporter status;
- legitimate interests, such as preventing abuse, maintaining service integrity, and responding to support;
- compliance with legal obligations; and
- your consent, where consent is required.

## 6. Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal information.

We may share information only in limited cases, such as:

- with Lemon Squeezy, for GitHub DMG checkout, receipts, taxes, and license-key operations;
- with Apple, through StoreKit and App Store purchase flows for the Mac App Store build;
- with service providers only where reasonably necessary to operate the business;
- with legal or regulatory authorities where required by law; and
- in connection with a business transfer such as a merger, acquisition, or asset sale.

If you contact us through GitHub, your information is also subject to GitHub's privacy practices.

## 7. Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including:

- purchase and license records, for accounting, tax, fraud prevention, and customer support purposes;
- support communications, for follow-up and service history; and
- local application data, until you remove it, uninstall the App, or it is overwritten during normal use.

Retention periods may be longer where required by law.

## 8. International Transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including through Lemon Squeezy, Apple, GitHub, and other third-party providers. Where applicable, we rely on appropriate safeguards required by law.

## 9. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect information we control. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

## 10. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to:

- request access to personal information about you;
- request correction or deletion;
- object to or restrict certain processing;
- request portability, where applicable; and
- withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

To make a privacy request, contact us using the contact methods below. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

## 11. Children's Privacy

SyncWatcher is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

## 12. Third-Party Services

Third-party services used in connection with SyncWatcher may include:

- Lemon Squeezy, for checkout and license-key operations on non-App-Store builds;
- Apple App Store and StoreKit, for Mac App Store distribution and in-app purchases;
- GitHub, for source code distribution, releases, issues, and discussions; and
- Buy Me a Coffee or similar support links on non-App-Store builds.

Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

## 13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make a material change, we will update the "Last updated" date and publish the revised policy.
