## Version 0.1

Version 0.1 of the **Sunil Abraham Project** website is now live at [sunilabraham.in](https://www.sunilabraham.in/).  
The website has been built using **GitHub Pages** with a fully custom design and professional open documentation theme.  
It currently includes the following sections:

- **Home** – Overview of the project and its purpose.  
- **Projects** – Current work, including documentation on *A. M. Abraham Aryookuzhiel* and *Artificial Intelligence*.  
- **Publications** – Listing selected writings and research interests.  
- **Videos** – Embedded playlist of talks, lectures, and interviews.  
- **Contact** – Direct email link and collaboration note.

## Version 0.2

Version 0.2 of the **Sunil Abraham Project** website continues to refine structure, navigation, and usability.  
This update focuses on strengthening the site’s foundational layout, consistency across pages, and transparency documentation.  
Key additions and improvements include:

- **General Design Improvement** — General design improvement, top share bar etc.
- **Footer Template** – A default footer has been created under `_includes`, allowing uniform use across all pages.  
- **Disclaimer Page** – Introduced to clarify authorship, delegation, and the possibility of occasional errors.  
- **Layout (default)** – Basic layout implemented and synchronised across pages for visual consistency.  
- **Privacy Policy Page** – Added with essential information and confirmation that no trackers are currently active.
- **Videos Page Expand** — Added more videos. The videos page have 30 videos now.
- **Sitemap Page** – A first version of the sitemap created to support navigation and automatic indexing.

## Version 0.3

Version 0.3 of the **Sunil Abraham Project** website focuses on visual refinement, structural balance, and accessibility improvements.  
This release improves readability, layout consistency, and ease of navigation while keeping the design simple and functional.

- **Sandbox Creation** – A new `/sandbox` subdirectory created for experimentation and safe testing of new features or layouts.  
  Note: included page; any error might disrupt default layout and other structure.  
- **robots.txt Setup** – Implemented to manage search engine visibility.  
  The `/sandbox` directory is excluded from indexing.  
- **Sitemap (XML) Creation** – Automatic sitemap generated at [https://sunilabraham.in/sitemap.xml](https://sunilabraham.in/sitemap.xml).  
  The `Sitemap.md` page improved with description and alphabetical sorting.  
- **Documentation Directory** – Work started on a dedicated `/doc` (or `/docs`) section for structured documentation and internal reference materials.  
- **A. M. Abraham Aryookuzhiel Biography Article** – First draft completed, one book article added.
- **Sunil Bio Compilation (First Draft)** – Compilation of Sunil Abraham’s biography begun, collecting key references, timelines, and curated notes.  
- **Categorisation** – Initiated categorisation of pages and articles for easier navigation.  
- **Template Development** –

## Version 0.3.1

Version 0.3.1 of the **Sunil Abraham Project** marks a major expansion in the **Publications** section and continued refinement of the website’s structural and accessibility frameworks.  

This version emphasises content development, modular template creation, and user accessibility through shortcuts and keyboard navigation.

**🧾 Publications Section Expansion**
- **Major Update of the Week:** The Publications section underwent a comprehensive expansion, adding 20 new first-version articles across various themes such as open knowledge, digital culture, governance, and rights.  
- Each publication now follows a standardised seven-part structure — including *Lead section*, *Publication details*, *Abstract/Summary*, *Context and Background*, *Key Themes or Findings*, *Collaborators and Acknowledgements*, and *Related Publications*.  
- **Improved linking system:** Articles now include embedded links to related pages, PDFs, and cross-references within the site.  
- **File management:** New PDFs were uploaded to `/files/` and linked properly to their respective pages, ensuring consistent naming and SEO-friendly URLs (e.g., `/publications/digital-natives-with-a-cause/`).  
- **Accessibility and readability:** Enhanced layout consistency, alt-text coverage, and improved paragraph flow for better screen reader interpretation.

**🧩 Template Creation and Refinement**
- **Stub Template:** Introduced a new `stub.html` template for in-progress or partially completed pages, visually indicating a page under development.  
- **Notice Template:** Implemented the following include for dynamic notices that can display contextual information across multiple pages:

**Accesskey and Shortcuts**
- Introduced keyboard shortcuts (accesskeys) for major navigation areas to enhance accessibility for users with mobility or visual impairments.  
- Ensured compatibility across major browsers and assistive technologies.

**🧱 Structural and Ongoing Improvements**
- Internal consistency check for article front matter (`layout`, `title`, `description`, `categories`, and `date` fields).  
- Preparations started for integrating accessibility guidelines into future style.scss modularisation (refer to Version 0.3 roadmap).  
- Minor style adjustments for better mobile responsiveness in new article templates.  
- Archive verification for `/publications/` directory and newly added article pages.

## Version 0.3.2

Version 0.3.2 continues the major content-building phase of the **Sunil Abraham Project**, with a strong focus on expanding the Publications section, improving navigation, and strengthening the website’s organisational structure.

**📚 Publications Expansion (Major Focus)**  
- The Publications section remained the top priority this week.  
- **At least 10 new articles were added**, bringing the total to 82 articles, of which 57 fall under the Publications category.  
- Versions 0.3.1 and 0.3.2 together represent a significant leap in content development, especially in standardising templates, improving metadata, and ensuring internal consistency.

**👥 Collaboration & Author Pages**  
- **Author (Collaboration) page created** to help readers discover authors connected to the project or those who may collaborate in the future.  
- A dedicated Authors Directory page added to support collaboration visibility and cross-site navigation.

**📰 Media Directory**  
- A comprehensive Media Directory has been created to classify and list media articles, improving browsing for visitors and organising long-term archives.

**🔍 Google Search Console Integration**  
- Google Search Console account created.  
- XML sitemap successfully submitted for indexing.  
- This ensures improved SEO visibility, indexing accuracy, and long-term search performance.

**🧪 Sandbox Restructure**  
- The `/sandbox/` page was restructured to allow safe experiments to go live without being indexed.  
- Sandbox is now publicly accessible but excluded from sitemap and disallowed in robots.txt, ensuring experiments do not appear in search results.

**🌍 Content Enhancements**  
- Major expansion of the Students for Peace article with improved structure and detail.  
- Added a Did You Know (DYK) section on the Home page to increase engagement and highlight interesting facts.

**🧱 Additional Improvements**  
- Internal consistency updates across new pages.  
- Confirmed placement of collaboration and directory sections for long-term site organisation.

## Version 0.4

Version 0.4 of the **Sunil Abraham Project** website continues the steady phase of expansion, refinement, and structural strengthening across key areas of the site. This release focuses on completing remaining publication entries, enhancing navigation tools, improving search visibility, and beginning a major new portal initiative.

**🔢 Article and Page Milestone**
- The site now contains 100 mainspace articles and 125 total pages.
- This marks a notable growth point in the project's documentation and publishing phases.

**📚 Publications Completion and Formatting**
- Work progressed on adding the remaining publication entries and aligning earlier articles with the standard seven-part structure now used across the section.
- Metadata cleanup continued, ensuring each article includes consistent formatting, clear descriptions, accurate categories, and full styling alignment.

**🎲 Random Page Generator**
- A new random-page generator was introduced, offering visitors an easy way to discover content from across the site.
- Optional filters now allow selection from publications, portals, or media entries.
- This feature supports browsing variety and increases engagement with lesser-visited pages.

**🔎 Search Visibility and Indexing**
- The updated sitemap.xml was submitted to Bing Webmaster Tools.
- Indexing checks were performed to confirm coverage of both new and existing pages.
- This marks another step in strengthening long-term search discoverability beyond Google alone.

**🧱 Layout Enhancements and Structured Data**
- The default layout was reinforced through the addition of structured data elements.
- Canonical tags, Open Graph tags, Twitter cards, and a unified JSON-LD block were prepared and added to improve consistent presentation across search and social platforms.
- These improvements lay the groundwork for better link previews and metadata uniformity.

**📜 A. M. A. Ayrookuzhiel Portal Development**
- Initial planning began for the A. M. A. Ayrookuzhiel Portal in advance of the 29 November 2025 commemoration.
- Work included outlining structural sections, drafting page components, and preparing collapsible areas for readability.
- Image galleries, related article clusters, and the broader navigational design framework were also initiated.
- This effort will continue into the following week as content and layout expand.

**📧 Email Setup**
- The sitewide contact address using *sunilabraham@duck.com* was configured and confirmed operational.

**🆕 Newest Pages Feature**
- The Newest Pages system was refined to ensure accurate sorting by creation date.
- Smooth animation behaviour, monthly filtering, and consistent metadata handling were implemented.
- These improvements support tracking of new additions as the site continues to grow.

## Version 0.5

Version 0.5 marks a week of steady but important progress across the **A. M. A. Ayrookuzhiel Portal**, **Publications**, and the early stages of the **homepage redesign**. This release blends content development with structural improvements, ensuring the project continues to grow in depth as well as usability.

**📜 A. M. A. Ayrookuzhiel Portal Development**  
- Work on the commemorative portal continued in preparation for the 29th death anniversary on 29 November 2025.  
- Additional articles were drafted and integrated into the portal structure.  
- The internal layout received adjustments to improve readability and narrative flow, with more refinements planned for the next update.

**📚 Publications and Media Expansion**  
- Progress continued on expanding the Publications section, with new entries planned and several drafts initiated.  
- Media articles and media mentions were also prepared, supporting the goal of building a complete and reliable long-term archive.  
- These updates strengthen the documentation base that has been growing through recent versions.

**🏠 Homepage Redesign (Initial Phase)**  
- Initial work began on redesigning the main page.  
- The focus this week was on planning the structure and rethinking how information should be organised and presented.  
- Full implementation will take place in later versions.

**📱 Navigation and Mobile Improvements**  
- The mobile navigation system was significantly improved.  
- The earlier horizontal-scroll menu was replaced with a compact dropdown similar to Blogger's mobile navigation.  
- The toggle button now appears only on small screens.  
- Dropdown items were cleaned up, made smaller, and stripped of unnecessary right-side borders.  
- Desktop navigation remains the same, but minor styling fixes were made to keep the layout consistent and lighter.

**🖋️ Biographical Writing and Documentation Tools**  
- Work started on the first draft of the Ponnamma Abraham article.  
- A central working file titled Biographical Article Datapoints was created to guide future biographical writing.  
- The document outlines essential data fields covering personal details, family background, education, career, personal life, and later years.

## Version 0.6

Version 0.6 reflects steady progress across TSAP, with work focused on content expansion, thematic organisation, and the early setup of event-related pages.

**📄 TSAP Content Expansion**  
- 20 new pages were added this week.  
- TSAP now includes 150 mainspace pages.  
- Page structure and metadata were kept consistent across additions.

**📚 Publications and Indian Language Articles**  
- More Publications entries were drafted for upcoming releases.  
- Work began on Indian language material, starting with ಡಿಜಿಟಲ್ ನಿರ್ಬಂಧಗಳ ನಿರ್ವಹಣೆ (a 2012 *Prajavani* article).  
- This introduces multilingual coverage into the Publications section.

**📰 Media Mentions Section**  
- The Media Mentions section was initiated.  
- Initial items will be added and expanded through the coming week.

Version 0.7 represents a high-output week focused primarily on consolidating the **Media Mentions** archive, expanding historical coverage, and beginning structured clustering around major publications. The emphasis during this period was on accuracy, completeness, and long-term archival value rather than visual or layout changes.

**📰 Media Mentions Expansion (Primary Focus)**  
- Work this week concentrated heavily on the Media Mentions section.  
- A total of 53 new media articles were created between 7 December and 13 December 2025.  
- Each entry followed a consistent structure, with careful attention to dates, authorship, source attribution, and verbatim full text where available.  
- Older articles were handled with the same rigor as recent ones, ensuring historical continuity.

**🗞️ The Economic Times Cluster**  
- Work began on *The Economic Times cluster*, bringing together all related publications and media mentions under a single thematic grouping.  
- This cluster serves as a unified reference point for articles written by, featuring, or substantially engaging with Sunil Abraham in *The Economic Times*.  
- The clustering approach improves discoverability while preserving the independence of individual article pages.

**📰 The New York Times Cluster**  
- A separate cluster for *he New York Times* was initiated.  
- Relevant articles were identified and prepared for inclusion under this grouping.  
- This marks the start of source-based clustering for international publications.

## Version 0.8

Version 0.8 marks another intensive content-building phase, building directly on the momentum of Version 0.7. The primary focus remained on expanding and refining the **Media Mentions** archive, completing major publication clusters, and improving the overall structural coherence of cluster pages. This phase combined high-volume archival work with careful corrective and housekeeping updates.

**📰 Media Mentions Expansion (Ongoing Core Work)**  
- Work continued steadily on the Media Mentions section throughout the period.  
- A total of 63 new pages were created between 14 December and 20 December 2025.  
- Each article followed the established archival standards: accurate publication dates, correct authorship, source attribution, and verbatim full text where available.  
- Older and historically significant articles received the same level of care as more recent coverage, maintaining consistency across the archive.

**🗞️ The Economic Times Cluster (Completion Phase)**  
- Work on [*The Economic Times* cluster](/clusters/sunil-abraham-economic-times/) was completed during this version.  
- All identified articles were consolidated under a single, coherent cluster page.  
- The cluster now functions as a comprehensive reference point while preserving individual article integrity and permalinks.

Version 0.9 represents the single most productive week in the history of TSAP so far. The focus was squarely on **Media Mentions expansion**, accelerating progress across multiple publications and preparing the ground for the milestone Version 1.0 release.

- 75 new  articles were added this week — the largest weekly increase so far.
- This growth strengthened coverage across Indian and international news sources.
- The surge reflects renewed emphasis on completeness and archival accuracy.

**🧩 New Source-Based Clusters Planned**
- Several new clusters are being prepared for upcoming release, including:

## Version 1.0

Version 1.0 marks a defining moment in the evolution of TSAP, shifting the project from an intensive build phase into a more stable, modular, and publicly navigable archive. While earlier versions focused on rapid expansion, this milestone emphasises consolidation, structure, and long-term sustainability.

**📰 Focused Weekly Output**
- This release cycle covered a shorter four-day working week.
- Despite the compressed timeline, 25 new pages were created and published.
- The work prioritised consistency, completeness, and alignment with established archival standards rather than raw volume.

**🧩 Structural Maturity and Modularity**
- A deliberate move was made to separate structure from content to improve maintainability.
- Key homepage sections began transitioning into standalone `_includes` files.
- This approach allows future design changes and content updates to proceed independently, without cluttering core layouts.
- The `Did You Know (DYK)` section on the main page has now been fully migrated to a dedicated `_includes`.

- The portal will span policy analysis, regulatory debates, ethical questions, and public discourse.
- This marks the start of a thematic consolidation effort, grouping long-running ideas that previously existed across dispersed articles.

Version 1.0 establishes a stable foundation for future growth, enabling deeper thematic organisation, cleaner design iteration, and a more resilient long-term content strategy.

- At the end of Version 1.0, the site contained 374 articles.
- **67 new articles** were created during this period and prepared for addition to the site.
- Work remained centred on documentation and archival completeness.

**Media Mentions**
- Continued work on *Hindustan Times* media mentions.
- Articles were added and aligned with existing metadata and structure.

**Clusters**
- New source-based clusters were started, with relevant articles created:

- Work continued to prioritise documentation, completeness, and structured grouping of material.

**Clusters**
- Work on the [*Sunil Abraham and Business Standard*](/clusters/sunil-abraham-business-standard/) cluster was completed for now.
  - A small number of related articles were unavailable or had unresolved issues.
  - These gaps have been noted and will be revisited in the future.
- Initial work began on a *FactorDaily* cluster.
  - Relevant articles and media mentions were created and added to TSAP.
- Work also began on a *The Hindu* cluster.
  - Related articles have started to be created.
  - Cluster development will continue into the next phase.

**Resources**
- The *Resources* section was initiated.

## Version 1.1.2

Version 1.1.2 marks an important milestone for The Sunil Abraham Project. The project crossed **500 published articles** this week with the publication of [*Surveillance Is Like Salt in Cooking*](/articles/surveillance-is-like-salt-in-cooking/).  
Reaching 500 articles represents a significant point of scale for TSAP, reflecting sustained documentation, curation, and long-term editorial commitment.
