# Firewatch Terms of Service Effective date: May 23, 2026 These Terms of Service describe the rules for using Firewatch, a Devvit moderation app for Reddit communities. By installing or using Firewatch, you agree to these terms and to the Reddit terms and policies that apply to your use of Reddit and Reddit's Developer Platform. ## What Firewatch Is Firewatch is a moderation workflow tool. It helps moderators detect escalating posts, review public Reddit activity, coordinate ownership, run configurable Automations, take Reddit-native mod actions, and save handoff notes. Firewatch is not a Reddit safety enforcement system, legal advisor, or replacement for moderator judgment. Scores, labels, suggestions, rule matches, and summaries are workflow aids for moderators. ## Who May Use Firewatch Firewatch is intended for subreddit moderators and other users authorized to moderate an installed community. You may use Firewatch only for legitimate community moderation, safety, and governance work. You are responsible for complying with Reddit's User Agreement, Reddit Rules, Moderator Code of Conduct, Developer Platform rules, your community rules, and all applicable laws when using Firewatch. ## Moderator Responsibility Firewatch provides deterministic signals and action tools, but moderators remain responsible for final decisions. Before taking action, review the relevant post, comments, report context, community rules, and Reddit policies. You are responsible for any moderation action you choose to run through Firewatch, including approvals, removals, spam actions, locks, report handling, flair changes, user approvals, user mutes, moderator notes, recent content cleanup, and bans. ## Automations Firewatch includes configurable Automations. Depending on how a moderator configures a rule, Firewatch may suggest actions, prepare actions for approval, auto-run safe Firewatch-only actions, or auto-run all selected actions. Use automatic actions carefully. Test rules in a sandbox subreddit before enabling them in an active community. Do not configure rules to make moderation decisions that are discriminatory, retaliatory, deceptive, abusive, or inconsistent with Reddit policies or your community rules. Firewatch cannot guarantee that any Reddit action will succeed. Actions may fail because of permissions, deleted content, API limits, platform changes, or other conditions outside the app's control. ## Acceptable Use You may not use Firewatch to: - Harass, threaten, intimidate, or target users. - Expose private information or encourage doxxing. - Collect credentials, private messages, payment information, or sensitive personal information. - Monitor communities where Firewatch is not installed or where you do not have moderation authority. - Evade Reddit safety systems, account restrictions, bans, rate limits, or platform rules. - Manipulate votes, karma, reports, or user behavior. - Create deceptive, malicious, spammy, illegal, or harmful moderation flows. ## Data And Privacy Firewatch's data practices are described in the [Privacy Policy](PRIVACY.md). Do not enter passwords, private messages, payment details, medical details, government identifiers, or other sensitive personal information into Firewatch settings, handoff notes, rule names, rule descriptions, removal reasons, or mod notes. ## Platform Dependence Firewatch runs on Reddit's Developer Platform and uses Reddit and Devvit services, including Reddit moderation APIs and Devvit Redis. Reddit may change, limit, review, suspend, or remove apps, APIs, permissions, or platform features. Firewatch may change, become unavailable, or stop working in a community as a result. ## No Warranty Firewatch is provided "as is" and "as available." The app may contain bugs, miss incidents, produce incomplete scores, prepare incorrect suggestions, or be unavailable. No guarantee is made that Firewatch will prevent harm, enforce rules correctly, preserve data indefinitely, or meet every moderation need. ## Limitation Of Liability To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Firewatch maintainer is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from use of the app, including moderation decisions, lost data, community disruption, user disputes, or platform unavailability. ## Changes These terms may be updated as Firewatch changes. Continued use of Firewatch after an update means you accept the updated terms. ## Contact For support or terms questions, contact the app maintainer through the Reddit account listed on the app's developer page.
