# Privacy Policy — Vario TB / VariometerIOS

This Privacy Policy describes how the **Vario TB** iOS application (“the App”) handles information when you use it.

This policy is written for transparency for pilots and for App Store disclosure requirements. It is not legal advice.

## Summary

- The App is designed to process **flight-related sensor data on your device** (GPS/location, motion/barometer-related signals, map rendering).
- **Flight logs and exported files** are stored **locally on your device** unless you explicitly share them using iOS share features.
- If you enable **LiveTrack24 live tracking**, the App transmits **location/track-related data** to **LiveTrack24** using your credentials.
- The App does **not** include third‑party advertising SDKs or App Tracking Transparency (ATT) tracking in the codebase shipped with this repository.

## Data the App may access on your device

Depending on features you use and permissions you grant, the App may access:

### Location (GPS) — including background location when enabled

Used for flight instruments, navigation/task features, wind estimation, logging, and (optionally) live tracking uploads.

### Motion & sensors

Used for variometer-related calculations (including pressure/barometric altitude sources where available on the device).

### Camera

Used **only** for scanning QR codes (for example competition task import). Images are not uploaded automatically by the App as part of normal operation described here.

### Siri / Shortcuts (App Intents)

If you use Siri Shortcuts or related App Intents, iOS may process voice/commands according to your device settings.

### Local files you generate

Examples include IGC flight recordings and exported waypoint/task-related files stored under the App’s Documents area. These remain on your device unless you share/delete them.

## Optional third‑party service: LiveTrack24

If you configure LiveTrack24 inside the App and start live tracking, the App communicates with **LiveTrack24** servers to authenticate and upload track points while tracking is active.

- **What may be sent:** information required to operate live tracking (for example location/time/speed/heading-related track fields as implemented by the LiveTrack24 client protocol).
- **Credentials:** stored on-device using the iOS Keychain (not embedded in the repository).

LiveTrack24 operates independently of this project; please review LiveTrack24’s own privacy/terms on their website.

## Map data

The App may display maps using Apple frameworks (for example Apple Maps / MapKit). Map rendering may involve network access according to iOS behavior and your settings.

## Data retention

- Data stored locally on your device remains until you delete it or uninstall the App.
- If you enable LiveTrack24 uploads, retention on LiveTrack24’s systems is governed by LiveTrack24.

## Children

The App is not intended for children under 13.

We may update this policy as the App evolves. The latest version will live in this repository file.
