Tabbage is designed to run locally in your browser and keep your browsing organization data under your control. --- ### 1. Overview Tabbage helps you organize your browsing by creating: * **Profiles** (e.g., “Work”, “Reading”, “Deep Work”) * **Groups** inside profiles (e.g., “Mail”, “Social”, “Research”) * **Lists of URLs** for each group * **Window layout preferences** for how groups open (vertical, horizontal, grid) All of this information is stored using Chrome’s extension storage, either on your device or synced with your Google account (depending on your Chrome settings). Tabbage **does not** collect, track, or sell any personal data. --- ### 2. Data We Store Tabbage stores only the data required to make the extension work: 1. **Profiles** * Profile name (e.g., “Workday”, “Reading Mode”) * List of groups under that profile 2. **Groups** * Group name (e.g., “Mail”, “Social”) * List of URLs that belong to the group (e.g., `https://mail.google.com`, `https://news.ycombinator.com`) * Layout choice for the group (vertical, horizontal, grid) * IDs of windows opened by Tabbage for that group (used only so Tabbage can close them later) This data is stored via **`chrome.storage.sync`** (or as configured by your browser), which means: * It may be synced between Chrome instances when you are signed into Chrome and have sync enabled. * It is not transmitted to any server controlled by the Tabbage developer. Tabbage **does not** store: * Your name, email address, or profile information * Your browsing history outside of the URLs you explicitly save into groups * Any passwords, cookies, or form data --- ### 3. Permissions and How They’re Used Tabbage requests the following Chrome extension permissions: 1. **`storage`** * Used to store profiles, groups, URLs, layouts, and window IDs. * All data is used only by the extension to provide its features. 2. **`tabs`** * Used to query the currently active tab and manage new windows/tabs when opening groups. 3. **`windows`** * Used to create and arrange browser windows for your groups (e.g., vertical columns, horizontal rows). * Used to close windows that Tabbage previously opened for a specific group. Tabbage **does not** inspect or log the contents of web pages opened inside those tabs and windows. --- ### 4. Data Sharing and Third Parties Tabbage: * **Does not** send your data to any external servers or third-party services. * **Does not** use analytics, tracking pixels, or ad networks. * **Does not** sell or share any data with advertisers or other companies. All data used by the extension is limited to what is necessary for: * Saving your profiles, groups, and URL lists. * Managing windows and layouts on your local browser. --- ### 5. Data Retention and Deletion Your data is stored as long as: * The Tabbage extension is installed, and * The data has not been manually cleared. You can remove all stored data at any time by: 1. Removing the extension via `chrome://extensions`, and/or 2. Clearing extension storage: * In Chrome: `Settings → Privacy and security → Clear browsing data → Advanced`, or * Using a dedicated Chrome extension data clearing tool. Once removed, the profiles and groups created by Tabbage are no longer available. --- ### 6. Children’s Privacy Tabbage is a general-purpose productivity tool and is **not directed at children**.
