# Changelog All notable changes to alter are documented here. Format: `[version] — YYYY-MM-DD` with sections: **Added**, **Changed**, **Fixed**, **Removed**. --- ## [1.3.2] — 2026-09-21 ### Fixed - **Windows installer destroyed the system PATH** ([#11](https://github.com/thechandanbhagat/alter-pm/issues/11)). The installer ran `setx /M PATH "%PATH%"` after install to make the new PATH live without a reboot. `setx` silently truncates its value at 1024 characters, so on any machine with a PATH longer than that the tail was permanently cut off, which is why `node.exe` and other tooling stopped resolving after installing alter. It also wrote `REG_SZ` over the `REG_EXPAND_SZ` Path value (breaking `%SystemRoot%`-style entries), folded the user PATH into the machine PATH, and used the installer's pre-install environment, so it even removed the alter entry it had just added. The `setx` call is gone. Setup now declares `ChangesEnvironment=yes` and lets Inno Setup broadcast `WM_SETTINGCHANGE` itself, which is the supported way to do this and touches nothing else. - Installer now records the machine PATH as it was before installation to `HKLM\Software\thechandanbhagat\alter\PathBackup`, as a recovery copy. - Uninstalling now removes alter from the system PATH instead of leaving a dead entry behind, and rewrites the value as `REG_EXPAND_SZ` so other segments keep expanding. - Reinstalling over an existing install no longer appends a duplicate PATH entry when the existing one has a trailing backslash. The check now compares PATH segments instead of doing a substring match. - **Self-update did nothing on Windows** ([#10](https://github.com/thechandanbhagat/alter-pm/issues/10)). `POST /api/v1/system/update/apply` launched the downloaded installer with `/S`, which is an NSIS switch. The installer is built with Inno Setup, which ignores unrecognised switches, so instead of installing silently it opened the full interactive wizard from a background daemon. It now passes `/VERYSILENT /SUPPRESSMSGBOXES /NORESTART /SP-`, matching the winget manifest. - Self-update no longer reports success when the installer fails to launch. The spawn result was discarded, so the dashboard showed "installer launched" either way. A failed launch now returns a 500 with the underlying error and cleans up the downloaded file. --- ## [1.3.1] — 2026-08-30 ### Fixed - Linux release build failed because the `tauri` dependency (added for the `alter-gui` desktop binary) was always-on, pulling in `glib`/`gio`/`gobject` system libraries not present on the CI runner. `tauri` is now gated behind an opt-in `gui` Cargo feature, and `alter-gui` requires it — a plain `cargo build --release` (used by the release pipeline) no longer touches Tauri/GTK at all. Build `alter-gui` locally with `cargo build --bin alter-gui --features gui`. --- ## [1.3.0] — 2026-08-29 ### Added **Namespace Drag-and-Drop** - Drag any process (table row, card, or sidebar entry) onto a namespace to move it there instantly, with no restart - New `PATCH /api/v1/processes/:id/namespace` endpoint relabels a process in place - `alter start` gains a `--namespace`/`-N` flag to set the namespace at creation time from the CLI - Namespace label in the process detail/table view is now a clickable link to its namespace page - Favorite namespaces can be pinned to the top of the sidebar namespace list **Cluster Mode & Process Health** - Multi-instance ("cluster") mode — run N copies of a process (`instances`), each suffixed `-0`, `-1`, … - Rolling restart for multi-instance groups (`POST /api/v1/processes/group/:name/rolling-restart`) — restarts instances one at a time to avoid downtime - HTTP/TCP health check probes per process (`health_check_url`, interval/timeout/retries) - Lifecycle hooks: `pre_start`, `post_start`, `pre_stop` shell commands - Start/Edit forms and API client updated to expose cluster, health-check, and hook fields **Remote Daemon Connections** - `alter remote add/update/remove/list/use` — manage named connections to remote `alter` daemons - `--remote ` global flag routes any CLI command to a saved remote connection - Remote server bookmarks API and Settings UI for saving/switching servers **Desktop App** - `alter-gui` — a Tauri-based desktop build of the dashboard, sharing the same daemon and web UI **OS Startup Automation** - New `provider` field in AI settings selects active backend; each provider's credentials stored independently - Ollama: configurable base URL (`http://localhost:11434` default); no API key required - Claude: Anthropic API key stored in `ai-settings.json`; key hint masked in API responses - OpenAI-compatible: configurable API key and base URL (`https://api.openai.com/v1` default) - Optional `GH_OAUTH_CLIENT_ID` env var baked in at compile time via `build.rs` — removes need for users to supply their own OAuth App Client ID - Updated `GET/PUT /api/v1/ai/settings` to expose per-provider fields **Process Enable/Disable** - New `enabled` boolean flag per process — disabled processes are excluded from Start All - `PATCH /api/v1/processes/:id/enabled` — toggle enabled state; state persisted to disk -
