### 1. Offline Operation

**Vibe** operates fully offline. After the initial setup, where the model files are downloaded, all transcription happens entirely on your local device. No data is ever sent outside the app. **Vibe** can also function completely offline, even if you disconnect your internet connection.

### 2. Data Collection

**Vibe** collects anonymous, privacy-friendly analytics through [Aptabase](https://aptabase.com/) to help us identify and fix errors. This includes:

- Event names (e.g. transcription started, failed)
- Error messages (no file names or content)
- OS name, app version, and country (coarse, no IP stored)

No personal data, file contents, transcription text, or identifying information is ever collected. Analytics can be disabled at any time in **Settings**.

**Optional Cloud Summarization**

When using the **Summarize** option in the `More Options` menu (which is off by default), the transcription is sent to the Claude API for summarization. This feature is entirely optional, and users can choose whether or not to enable it. By default, this option is disabled, ensuring that no data is sent to the cloud without explicit user consent.

### 3. Automatic Updates

**Vibe** supports automatic updates, which come directly from GitHub releases. No other cloud storage or external servers are involved.

### 4. Third-Party Services

**Vibe** integrates prebuilt ffmpeg from [wang-bin/avbuild](https://github.com/wang-bin/avbuild) and uses Tauri for building the app. None of these services collect or transmit user data.

### 5. Data Storage and Security

There is no encryption involved in the app. Users have complete control over where and when transcription files are saved on their own computers. You are in full control of your transcription files and can delete them at any time.
