# API Reference

libtmux's public API mirrors tmux's object hierarchy:
{class}`~libtmux.Server` → {class}`~libtmux.Session` →
{class}`~libtmux.Window` → {class}`~libtmux.Pane`. Attached terminals show up as
{class}`~libtmux.Client` objects accessed off the server.
