# Font Licenses

This document describes typography and font licensing for Regenfass projects.

## Primary typography (brand)

The Regenfass brand uses the **system UI font stack** for all headings and body text:

- **Stack:** `ui-sans-serif, system-ui, sans-serif`, plus emoji fallbacks (`"Apple Color Emoji"`, `"Segoe UI Emoji"`, `"Segoe UI Symbol"`, `"Noto Color Emoji"`).
- **No external font files** are required; no font licence is required for standard web, print, or email use of the brand site and templates when using this stack.

## Optional font files (third-party licences)

The sections below apply **only** if optional font files (e.g. for PDF generation or legacy assets) are included in `assets/fonts/` or in a release. The brand does not ship or require these by default.

## SIL Open Font License 1.1 Summary

The SIL Open Font License (OFL) is a free, libre and open source licence specifically designed for fonts and related software based on our experience in font design and linguistic software tool development.

### Key Points

1. **Free to Use:** Fonts can be used for any purpose, including commercial projects
2. **Modification Allowed:** Fonts can be modified and distributed
3. **No Warranty:** Fonts are provided "as is" without warranty
4. **Attribution:** Original copyright notices must be preserved
5. **No Selling:** Fonts cannot be sold by themselves (but can be included in products)
