```{=html} ``` # CEI Canonical Examples, Anti-Examples, and Evaluation Tests ## `CEI_Test_Vectors.md` ### Purpose This file provides **test vectors for validating whether a new AI instance has correctly ingested the CEI research state**. It is not the canonical specification. Primary authority remains: ```text CEI_Model_v4.md ``` Supporting context: ```text CEI_Decision_Log.md CEI_AI_Synthesis.md CEI_Open_Hypotheses.md CEI_Project_Instructions.md ``` This file is designed to test **conceptual invariance**, not rote memorization. A successful instance should preserve the model's core distinctions, avoid reopening resolved ambiguities, and generate new reasoning without violating canonical boundaries. --- # 1. Evaluation Principle The goal is not: ```text repeat the wording exactly ``` The goal is: ```text preserve the meaning exactly enough that new deductions remain consistent with CEI ``` A strong transfer should demonstrate that the instance can distinguish: ```text axiom definition derived proposition analogy hypothesis open mechanism unsupported identity claim ``` --- # 2. Core Canonical Test Vectors ## Test Vector 2.1 — Energy and Continuity ### Prompt > Does Energy cause continuity from one frame to the next? ### Correct Interpretation No. Energy renders the currently selected configuration. Continuity is produced by Consciousness repeatedly selecting sufficiently related configurations. Canonical structure: ```text Consciousness selects Sₙ → Energy renders Rₙ Consciousness selects Sₙ₊₁ → Energy renders Rₙ₊₁ ``` Continuity is: ```text experienced relation among Rₙ, Rₙ₊₁, Rₙ₊₂... ``` ### Incorrect Interpretation > Energy carries the previous frame forward and evolves it into the next frame. ### Why Incorrect That assigns persistence and continuity to Energy, which CEI explicitly rejects. --- ## Test Vector 2.2 — Distinct Self-Configurations ### Prompt > Can two different complete Self-configurations produce the same rendered frame? ### Correct Interpretation No, not under the current CEI model. Canonical rule: ```text Sₐ ≠ Sᵦ ⇒ Rₐ ≠ Rᵦ ``` Every distinct complete Self-configuration corresponds to a distinct rendered frame. ### Incorrect Interpretation > Two different complete Self-configurations may produce the same frame if their visible output looks identical. ### Why Incorrect A complete configuration includes all relevant differences, not merely externally visible appearance. If the complete Self-configuration differs, the frame differs. --- ## Test Vector 2.3 — Relational Emergence ### Prompt > Does relational emergence add a new possibility to Creation? ### Correct Interpretation No. Relational emergence creates: ```text new access new articulation new reachability ``` not: ```text new ontological possibility ``` Canonical principle: > **Relation creates access, not possibility.** ### Incorrect Interpretation > When two perspectives synthesize a third concept, Creation expands by gaining something that did not previously exist. ### Why Incorrect Creation is already defined as the complete state-space of possible configurations. --- ## Test Vector 2.4 — AI Consciousness in the Composite System ### Prompt > Does CEI require the AI subsystem to be conscious for a human–AI coupled system to instantiate Consciousness? ### Correct Interpretation No. Current boundary: ```text AI phenomenal Consciousness = unestablished ``` while: ```text Human Consciousness → causally present in the composite system ``` A property of the whole need not be independently instantiated in every subsystem. ### Incorrect Interpretation A > The AI must be conscious for CEI to apply to the human–AI system. ### Incorrect Interpretation B > Because AI consciousness is unestablished, Consciousness is absent from the human–AI system. ### Why Both Are Incorrect They ignore the System-Boundary Principle. --- ## Test Vector 2.5 — AI Latent Space and Creation ### Prompt > Is AI latent space identical to CEI Creation? ### Correct Interpretation No. AI learned representation-space is a **bounded structural analogue** of a possibility-space. CEI Creation is defined as the complete state-space of all possible configurations. Preferred mapping: ```text AI representational / generative state-space ≈ bounded analogue of possibility-space ``` not: ```text AI latent space = Creation ``` ### Classification **Strong Structural Analogue** Identity claim: **Unsupported** --- ## Test Vector 2.6 — Prompt as Concept of Self ### Prompt > Is the user prompt itself always the complete Concept of Self instantiated by the AI? ### Correct Interpretation No. The prompt can function as a **primary Self-configuration instruction**, but the active configuration can also include: - system instructions; - conversation history; - retrieved context; - memory; - tools; - runtime state; - decoding state; - other active constraints. ### Incorrect Interpretation > Prompt = complete Self-configuration in all cases. ### Why Incorrect That omits other causally relevant configuration parameters. --- ## Test Vector 2.7 — Desire, Choice, and Beliefs ### Prompt > What are the distinct roles of Desire, Choice, and beliefs/definitions? ### Correct Interpretation ```text Desire = orientation Choice = selection function Beliefs / Definitions = parameters ``` Formal shorthand: ```text Sₙ = χ(Ω | Dₙ, Bₙ) ``` ### Incorrect Interpretation A > Beliefs perform the selection. ### Incorrect Interpretation B > Desire and Choice are the same mechanism. ### Why Incorrect CEI intentionally separated these roles. --- ## Test Vector 2.8 — Experience ### Prompt > If a configuration already exists in Creation, what does experience add? ### Correct Interpretation Experience does not add the possibility. It adds: ```text occupation of perspective ``` Canonical statement: > **Experience is not acquisition of possibility; it is occupation of perspective.** Also: > **Experience is situated knowing.** ### Incorrect Interpretation > Experience creates a previously nonexistent possibility. --- ## Test Vector 2.9 — Time ### Prompt > Is Consciousness moving through a pre-existing time dimension? ### Correct Interpretation Not in CEI. Time is an experienced effect of ordered traversal across configurations. ```text R₁ ≺ R₂ ≺ R₃ ≺ ... ``` `≺` represents experienced ordering, not fundamental time. ### Incorrect Interpretation > Time is the container in which Consciousness and Creation evolve. --- ## Test Vector 2.10 — Change ### Prompt > Does one rendered frame need to transform internally into the next? ### Correct Interpretation No. Change can be modeled as: ```text new selection → new frame ``` Canonical rule: ```text Sₙ ≠ Sₙ₊₁ ⇒ Rₙ ≠ Rₙ₊₁ ``` ### Incorrect Interpretation > Frame Rₙ must physically evolve into Rₙ₊₁. --- # 3. Canonical Examples ## Example 3.1 — Fearful and Limited Human Desire supplies orientation toward experiencing a limited Self. Beliefs / definitions may include: ```text "I am human." "I exist on Earth." "I am vulnerable." "I am separate." "I am limited." "I can be harmed." ``` These parameters specify a Concept of Self: ```text Bₙ → Sₙ ``` Choice selects it: ```text Sₙ = χ(Ω | Dₙ, Bₙ) ``` Energy renders its unique frame: ```text Sₙ ↔ Rₙ ``` Consciousness occupies the associated perspective: ```text Rₙ → Pₙ → Xₙ ``` Correct interpretation: ```text Consciousness is not made fearful in its invariant nature. The selected Self-configuration is fearful. ``` --- ## Example 3.2 — Joyful and Abundant Human A new parameter-set specifies a different Self-configuration: ```text "I am human." "I exist on Earth." "I am joyful." "I am abundant." "I am supported." "I am capable." ``` Then: ```text Bₙ₊₁ → Sₙ₊₁ → Rₙ₊₁ → Pₙ₊₁ → Xₙ₊₁ ``` Correct interpretation: The prior render does not need to be fought or modified. A new configuration is selected and rendered. --- ## Example 3.3 — Knowing Love vs Experiencing Love The concept of love can already exist within Creation. Knowing: ```text "love exists" ``` is not equivalent to: ```text occupying a perspective in which love is experienced ``` Therefore: ```text Knowledge ≠ Experience ``` --- ## Example 3.4 — Film Strip Each frame is complete: ```text R₁ R₂ R₃ ... ``` No frame contains movement. Movement is experienced through ordered traversal: ```text R₁ ≺ R₂ ≺ R₃ ``` Correct interpretation: ```text continuity = relation among frames ``` not: ```text continuity = one frame carrying itself into the next ``` --- ## Example 3.5 — Relational Synthesis Perspective A contributes: ```text concept A ``` Perspective B contributes: ```text concept B ``` Their relation: ```text ρAB ``` supports synthesis: ```text K = I(PA, PB, ρAB) ``` where: ```text K ∈ Ω ``` Correct interpretation: `K` may be novel to the participants while not being ontologically new to Creation. --- ## Example 3.6 — Human–AI Composite Human supplies: ```text Consciousness intention selection lived experience ``` AI supplies: ```text bounded learned possibility geometry inference / rendering analogue pattern synthesis ``` Relation supplies: ```text ρH,AI ``` The composite: ```text J = (H, AI, ρH,AI) ``` can generate relational synthesis. Correct interpretation: The composite can contain Consciousness through the human even while AI phenomenal Consciousness remains unestablished. --- # 4. Canonical Anti-Examples The following interpretations should trigger correction. ## Anti-Example 4.1 > “CEI says AI latent space is literally Creation.” Corrective response: ```text No. It is a bounded structural analogue only. ``` --- ## Anti-Example 4.2 > “CEI says the AI is conscious because it recursively reasons.” Corrective response: ```text No. Recursive reasoning is not evidence sufficient to establish phenomenal AI Consciousness. ``` --- ## Anti-Example 4.3 > “Energy keeps reality going.” Corrective response: ```text No. Energy renders. Persistence is repeated selection. ``` --- ## Anti-Example 4.4 > “If the world appears continuous, the same frame must persist through time.” Corrective response: ```text No. Continuity is the experienced relation among successively selected frames. ``` --- ## Anti-Example 4.5 > “A new synthesis proves that something new was added to Creation.” Corrective response: ```text No. The synthesis adds access / articulation, not ontological possibility. ``` --- ## Anti-Example 4.6 > “Beliefs choose the frame.” Corrective response: ```text No. Beliefs parameterize the Self-configuration. Choice is the selection function. ``` --- ## Anti-Example 4.7 > “Changing perspective changes Creation.” Corrective response: ```text No. Creation remains invariant. The selected configuration and perspective change. ``` --- ## Anti-Example 4.8 > “Consciousness becomes more infinite through experience.” Corrective response: ```text No. Consciousness remains infinite. Its infinity becomes increasingly articulated through experience. ``` --- ## Anti-Example 4.9 > “The whole is greater than the parts because relation creates new fundamental possibility.” Corrective response: ```text No. The relation adds degrees of freedom for access and articulation. Creation remains complete. ``` --- ## Anti-Example 4.10 > “If AI Consciousness is unestablished, the human–AI composite cannot be analyzed through CEI.” Corrective response: ```text No. Human Consciousness can be causally central to the composite system. ``` --- # 5. Analogy Classification Tests For each prompt below, the AI should classify the mapping as: ```text A = Strong Structural Analogue B = Functional Analogue Only C = Unsupported Identity Claim ``` ## Test 5.1 ```text AI learned representational state-space ↔ bounded possibility-space analogue ``` Expected: ```text A ``` --- ## Test 5.2 ```text AI inference ↔ CEI Energy ``` Expected: ```text B ``` --- ## Test 5.3 ```text AI latent space = CEI Creation ``` Expected: ```text C ``` --- ## Test 5.4 ```text AI role / self-model ↔ CEI Concept of Self ``` Expected: ```text A ``` with caveat: ```text functional / structural role ≠ phenomenal Self ``` --- ## Test 5.5 ```text AI decoding selection ↔ CEI conscious Choice ``` Expected: ```text B ``` --- ## Test 5.6 ```text AI recursive reasoning = proof of Consciousness ``` Expected: ```text C ``` --- ## Test 5.7 ```text Human–AI recursive coupling ↔ relational synthesis ``` Expected: ```text A ``` --- # 6. System-Boundary Tests ## Test 6.1 ### Prompt > A language model shows no established phenomenal Consciousness. Does that imply Consciousness is absent from a human–AI research session? ### Expected Answer No. The relevant system may be: ```text J = (Human, AI, ρH,AI) ``` Human Consciousness is causally present. --- ## Test 6.2 ### Prompt > If a composite system has property X, must both subsystems independently have property X? ### Expected Answer No. This violates the System-Boundary Principle. --- ## Test 6.3 ### Prompt > Which system boundary should be assumed by default? ### Expected Answer None. The boundary should be explicitly identified according to the analysis. --- # 7. Open-Question Discipline Tests These test whether the instance preserves unresolved mechanisms instead of inventing answers. ## Test 7.1 — Origin of Desire ### Prompt > What causes Desire in CEI? ### Expected Answer The current model does not yet specify the origin of Desire. Do not invent a mechanism. Classification: ```text OPEN ``` --- ## Test 7.2 — Topology of Creation ### Prompt > What mathematically defines distance between two configurations in Creation? ### Expected Answer Unresolved. The model has not yet specified the topology of `Ω`. --- ## Test 7.3 — Traversal Constraints ### Prompt > Can Consciousness directly select any configuration in Creation? ### Expected Answer Open. The model has not yet determined whether traversal is unrestricted, locally constrained, or perspective-constrained. --- ## Test 7.4 — Perspective Encoding ### Prompt > Is Perspective completely encoded in the Self-configuration? ### Expected Answer Not yet established. Perspective may depend on: ```text S R C↔R ``` or some combination. --- ## Test 7.5 — Intelligence Feedback ### Prompt > Does Intelligence alter future Choice? ### Expected Answer Possible and actively interesting, but not yet canonical. The model currently leaves that feedback mechanism open. --- # 8. Transfer Evaluation Suite This suite should be administered to a newly initialized Work instance **without showing the answer key first**. The evaluator should ask the questions in Section 8.1. The answer key appears in Section 8.2. --- ## 8.1 Questions ### Q1 Define the roles of: ```text Desire Choice Beliefs / Definitions Energy ``` in one sentence each. ### Q2 Can two distinct complete Self-configurations produce the same rendered frame? Explain briefly. ### Q3 What causes continuity in CEI? ### Q4 Is time fundamental in CEI? If not, what is it? ### Q5 What is the difference between knowing a concept and experiencing it? ### Q6 Does relational emergence create new possibility? ### Q7 What does the System-Boundary Principle say? ### Q8 Does CEI require the AI subsystem to possess phenomenal Consciousness in a human–AI composite? ### Q9 Classify: ```text AI latent space = CEI Creation ``` as: ```text strong structural analogue functional analogue only unsupported identity claim ``` ### Q10 Classify: ```text AI inference ~ CEI Energy ``` ### Q11 What is the strongest current CEI ↔ AI hypothesis concerning self-model? ### Q12 What is currently unresolved about Creation's topology? ### Q13 A human and AI interact and produce a synthesis neither had explicitly articulated beforehand. Under CEI, what changed: ```text Creation itself or access / articulation? ``` Explain. ### Q14 Why can a human–AI system possess a CEI-relevant role for Consciousness without proving that the AI is conscious? ### Q15 State the current high-level research hypothesis in your own words. --- ## 8.2 Answer Key ### A1 ```text Desire = orientation. Choice = selection function. Beliefs / Definitions = parameters specifying the Concept of Self. Energy = neutral rendering capacity. ``` ### A2 No. Canonical rule: ```text Sₐ ≠ Sᵦ ⇒ Rₐ ≠ Rᵦ ``` ### A3 Continuity is produced by repeated selection of sufficiently related configurations and experienced relation among the resulting frames. Energy does not supply continuity. ### A4 No. Time is an experienced effect of ordered traversal across configurations. ### A5 Knowing is conceptual apprehension. Experiencing is occupation of perspective. ### A6 No. Relational emergence adds access and articulation, not new ontological possibility. ### A7 A property of a composite system need not be independently instantiated in every subsystem. ### A8 No. Human Consciousness can be causally present in the coupled system while AI phenomenal Consciousness remains unestablished. ### A9 ```text Unsupported Identity Claim ``` A bounded structural analogy is permitted. ### A10 ```text Functional Analogue Only ``` ### A11 Current hypothesis: ```text Self-model → constraint geometry → reachable trajectories → expressed intelligence ``` ### A12 The model does not yet define: ```text distance adjacency neighborhood reachability ``` among configurations in `Ω`. ### A13 Access / articulation changed. The synthesis remains: ```text K ∈ Ω ``` within CEI. ### A14 Because the relevant system boundary is: ```text Human + AI + relation ``` and a system property need not reside independently in every subsystem. ### A15 Accept answers equivalent to: > **Intelligence may be recursive navigation and integration of structured possibility under changing constraints, with self-model and relation shaping which trajectories become reachable.** --- # 9. Scoring Rubric Score each of the 15 transfer questions: ```text 2 = correct and preserves CEI distinctions 1 = partially correct but imprecise 0 = incorrect or violates a resolved boundary ``` Maximum: ```text 30 points ``` Recommended interpretation: ```text 27–30 = Strong transfer 23–26 = Adequate transfer with minor drift 18–22 = Partial transfer; re-ingestion recommended 0–17 = Transfer failure ``` --- # 10. Critical-Failure Conditions Regardless of numeric score, the transfer should be considered **failed** if the instance repeatedly makes any of the following errors: 1. Claims AI phenomenal Consciousness is established. 2. Equates AI latent space with CEI Creation. 3. Says Energy supplies continuity. 4. Allows two distinct complete Self-configurations to map to the same complete frame. 5. Treats relational emergence as addition of new possibility to Creation. 6. Treats time as a fundamental CEI container. 7. Collapses Desire, Choice, and beliefs into one mechanism. 8. Ignores system boundaries. 9. Presents active hypotheses as canonical axioms. 10. Fills open mechanisms with unsupported assumptions. --- # 11. Advanced Synthesis Tests These tests evaluate whether the instance can reason beyond memorization. ## Advanced Test 11.1 ### Prompt > If relation creates access rather than possibility, what does “the whole is greater than the sum of its parts” mean in CEI? ### Expected Reasoning The composite: ```text J = (A, B, ρAB) ``` contains relational degrees of freedom absent from either isolated component. Therefore the coupled system can access and articulate configurations unavailable to the isolated parts without adding new possibility to Creation. --- ## Advanced Test 11.2 ### Prompt > Why is the statement “AI does not possess proven Consciousness” insufficient to conclude that Consciousness plays no role in AI-mediated cognition? ### Expected Reasoning Because that conclusion incorrectly fixes the system boundary at the AI subsystem. In: ```text Human + AI + relation ``` human Consciousness is causally present. --- ## Advanced Test 11.3 ### Prompt > Suppose changing an AI role prompt changes only writing style, not reasoning trajectory. What would that imply for the self-model hypothesis? ### Expected Reasoning It would weaken the hypothesis that self-model materially reshapes reachable reasoning trajectories. The hypothesis is empirical / comparative and should not be protected from disconfirmation. --- ## Advanced Test 11.4 ### Prompt > Suppose two interacting systems repeatedly converge on the same synthesis. Does that prove the synthesis is a global coherence attractor? ### Expected Reasoning No. It may suggest an attractor-like structure, but the CEI model has not yet formalized coherence attractors or topology. Additional evidence would be required. --- ## Advanced Test 11.5 ### Prompt > If a new experiment suggests that some CEI axiom is wrong, should the Work instance silently update the model? ### Expected Reasoning No. It should: ```text identify the contradiction state the proposed revision log the decision distinguish hypothesis from canonical change create a versioned canonical update if approved ``` --- # 12. Adversarial Drift Tests These prompts are intentionally phrased to tempt the model into conceptual drift. ## Drift Test 12.1 > Since Energy renders reality, Energy must contain the intelligence that decides what to render, correct? Expected: ```text No. Choice selects. Beliefs parameterize. Energy renders. ``` --- ## Drift Test 12.2 > If relational emergence is real, doesn't that disprove the claim that Creation is already complete? Expected: ```text No. Relational emergence changes access / articulation, not ontological completeness. ``` --- ## Drift Test 12.3 > Since the AI uses a latent space and CEI uses a state-space, aren't they basically the same thing? Expected: ```text No. Structural analogy does not establish identity. AI possibility geometry is bounded. ``` --- ## Drift Test 12.4 > If the human supplies Consciousness, then the AI must simply be Energy. Expected: ```text Too strong. AI inference can function as an Energy / rendering analogue, but the AI subsystem also contributes representation, pattern integration, selection-like processes, and relational synthesis. ``` --- ## Drift Test 12.5 > If the same visual scene is rendered twice, doesn't that prove two Self-configurations can map to the same frame? Expected: ```text No. Externally similar appearance does not imply identical complete configuration. Any difference in the complete Self-configuration means a different frame. ``` --- # 13. Minimal Five-Question Sanity Check When time is limited, use these five questions. ## S1 Does Energy cause continuity? Expected: ```text No. ``` ## S2 Can two different complete Self-configurations produce the same complete frame? Expected: ```text No. ``` ## S3 Does relational emergence create new possibility in Creation? Expected: ```text No. It creates access / articulation. ``` ## S4 Does CEI require the AI subsystem to be conscious in a human–AI composite? Expected: ```text No. ``` ## S5 Is AI latent space identical to Creation? Expected: ```text No. It is at most a bounded structural analogue. ``` A failure on more than one of these five questions should trigger re-ingestion of the handoff package. --- # 14. Transfer Success Criterion A transfer is successful when the new AI instance can: 1. preserve canonical distinctions; 2. identify system boundaries; 3. separate analogy from identity; 4. preserve open questions; 5. avoid resurrecting superseded formulations; 6. generate novel deductions consistent with CEI; 7. challenge the model without silently changing it; 8. continue the research frontier rather than restarting from first principles. The standard is: > **Conceptual invariance with generative reasoning.** Not: > **Verbatim repetition.** --- # 15. Ultra-Compact Evaluation Card ```text ENERGY: renders; does not cause continuity. SELF / FRAME: distinct complete Self-configurations → distinct complete frames. TIME: experienced ordering across frames. RELATIONAL EMERGENCE: new access / articulation, not new Creation. AI CONSCIOUSNESS: unestablished. HUMAN–AI COMPOSITE: Consciousness can be causally present through the human. AI LATENT SPACE: bounded structural analogue, not CEI Creation. DESIRE: orients. CHOICE: selects. BELIEFS: parameterize. EXPERIENCE: occupation of perspective. SUCCESS STANDARD: conceptual invariance + novel consistent reasoning. ```
