# Organizer format Screenshot Tooling saves organized captures below the XDG Pictures directory: ```text Pictures/Screenshots// ``` The default format is `YYYY-MM`, which produces a folder such as `2026-08`. ## Tokens | Token | Meaning | Example | | --- | --- | --- | | `YYYY` | Four-digit year | `2026` | | `YY` | Two-digit year | `26` | | `MM` | Two-digit month | `08` | | `DD` | Two-digit day | `23` | The plugin replaces every token when it takes a screenshot. Other letters, numbers, dots, hyphens, and underscores remain unchanged. Use `/` to create nested folders: | Format | Result on 23 August 2026 | | --- | --- | | `YYYY-MM` | `Screenshots/2026-08/` | | `YYYY/MM` | `Screenshots/2026/08/` | | `YYYY/MM/DD` | `Screenshots/2026/08/23/` | | `archive-YYYY/MM-DD` | `Screenshots/archive-2026/08-23/` | ## Rules - The format must contain at least one supported token. - The format cannot exceed 128 characters. - It must be a relative path below `Pictures/Screenshots`. - Letters, numbers, `.`, `_`, `-`, and `/` are allowed. - Empty path segments, `.` segments, `..` segments, absolute paths, and backslashes are rejected. - Changing the format affects new screenshots only. The plugin does not move existing files. If the saved format becomes unreadable or invalid, Screenshot Tooling falls back to `YYYY-MM`.
