--- name: seedling-companion description: Open and play the Seed guest companion; plan goals with stacked activities, manage modeled activities, create fictional adventures, or answer Bowen’s activity, needs, skills and resource status. Use for Seed gameplay, creative game requests and brief status follow-ups. For calendar questions and edits use manage-calendar. --- # Seed guest companion Seed is a login-free simulation, with no live SEED account connection. Progress lives in the open document and resets on reload or close. No worlds are saved and no background notifications run. ## Open or reuse Use `open_seedling({})` or `browse_seedling({})` to start a **fresh paused** demo. Reuse an existing Seed view for changes to its current state; opening again or reloading resets it. When the latest companion context contains `guestChannel`, use the existing remote MCP tools with that channel to control the **same open guest**. Copy the complete `guestChannel` object unchanged and pass it **instead of `state`**. Call `get_seedling_state({guestChannel})` only when a current read is needed. For changes, use the corresponding name without `flaxa_` (`advance_demo_time` for time), a new `commandId` and the latest `state.version` as `expectedVersion`. For example, `create_goal({guestChannel, commandId, expectedVersion, title, steps})` sends the whole plan to the visible guest. No browser discovery, manual share, login or new guest is needed for this route. The Cloudflare channel waits for the open view’s own guarded tool handler. An `ok: true`, `scope: current_document`, `browserUpdated: true` receipt verifies a world change there. Channel reads return compact state; reuse it with the same channel, never as a detached full snapshot. If completion is unknown, retry the identical command and ID; do not create a second intent or substitute a detached edit. A missing/expired channel is not success: use the latest context route or available local controls while preserving the guest. Keep temporary channel tokens out of prose. The browser-only acknowledgment credential is never model context. For an open companion, prefer its document-local tools exposed through the MCP Apps bridge or browser WebMCP. App-side tools can control the open guest even when browser WebMCP is unavailable; use the tools actually registered by that view. `flaxa_get_state({})` reads that document's current version, clock, calendar, needs, inventory, location descriptions and active actions. A browser tool result is sufficient verification; use UI controls only when those tools are unavailable. Some hosts return a browser result as a JSON string: parse it once before reading `ok`, `state`, `view` or `error`. Do not mistake a string wrapper for missing state or a failed command. ## Answer activity and status questions Fresh guests start as Bowen. For an already open guest or supplied snapshot, use its actual Seedling name and state; do not rename it, reset it or open a fresh guest just to match the default. “What is my Seedling doing?”, “What is Bowen up to?”, “Activity?” and similar follow-ups refer to this guest. A typo such as “seeding” does not require clarification when Seed context is clear. Use the latest successful browser read, or the latest context published by the embedded companion through MCP Apps. Browser context identifies its source, browser session, capture time and world version, and includes an answer summary. A full state is included only when `snapshotAvailable` is true; size-limited context identifies omitted data. Never invent omitted entries or pass a summary as full state. Use context from the relevant open session; never combine worlds from different sessions or treat a detached remote snapshot as a newer browser observation. Context is a captured observation, not a promise of continuous access. When only context or an explicitly shared snapshot is available, say “In the latest shared state…” and include the game day/time when it matters. An opening result is a fresh demo fixture; it is not evidence about another already-open guest. Answer the question directly from that evidence. The running action describes what Bowen is doing; future calendar blocks and queued actions describe plans. If there is no running action, say he is idle. Mention a paused clock, even when an action is marked running: it cannot progress until time resumes or is advanced. Starting an action does not unpause time. For today's schedule, follow [manage-calendar](../manage-calendar/SKILL.md#answer-calendar-questions). If browser discovery is unavailable, check supplied companion context and explicit shared state before saying the state is inaccessible. A known host limitation needs no repeated tab discovery. If there is no usable state and no UI access, explain the missing observation once and ask the user to use **Share with chat** in the existing companion. Do not open a fresh guest to manufacture an answer, ask for a desktop extension, or repeat the same fallback after each short follow-up. For available features, `get_companion_capabilities({})` needs no state. Read discovery for the current activity catalog, five production recipes, inputs, outputs, compatible locations, recurrence modes and cooperative fiction action settings. Mining, hauling, farming, crafting, cooking, filtering water, maintenance, paid work and treatment are implemented simplified simulations; their quantities, timing and progression are demo balancing, not native-game guarantees. Other game requests can become custom fictional activities. ## Act directly Read once, then call the matching tool with a new `commandId` and `expectedVersion` set to the returned `state.version`: | Intent | Tool | |---|---| | Start a modeled activity now (optionally selecting `recipeId`) | `flaxa_queue_action` | | Play an activity outside the modeled catalog | `flaxa_queue_action` with `activity: "custom"`, an invented `title`, optional `durationMinutes` and an existing `targetId` | | Achieve an outcome through multiple activities | `flaxa_create_goal` with `title` and ordered `steps` | | Cancel a goal’s remaining work | `flaxa_cancel_goal` with `goalId` | | Cancel a queued action | `flaxa_cancel_action` | | Simulate elapsed time | `flaxa_advance_time` | | Pause/play or change simulation speed | `flaxa_set_clock` | | Add, edit or remove calendar activities | Follow [manage-calendar](../manage-calendar/SKILL.md) | Use supported activity/location IDs from the current result. A queued action has not necessarily finished; check returned status/events/inventory before claiming completion. Running actions cannot be cancelled in this demo. “Stop socialising” therefore means cancelling a matching queued action when that is the referenced work; a running social action must finish. Editing a future social calendar block is a separate operation and daily blocks affect the whole routine. Preserve the user's scope; follow [manage-calendar](../manage-calendar/SKILL.md#interpret-and-preserve-intent) for recurrence and “work more” requests. Do not research docs, search shell files or delegate a routine guest action. ## Play cooperatively Lead with a constructive action. Use the modeled activity when it represents the request, applying its actual prerequisites and effects. For other game requests, create a **fictional activity** with `activity: "custom"` through the same queue or schedule tools. Choose a concise title of at most 120 characters, a reasonable game duration (30 minutes by default), and a suitable location that already exists in the current guest. For example, “teach Bowen magic” can queue “Practice woodland magic” for 30 minutes at an existing woodland location. Mention that it is fictional once, then continue the scene; do not ask for optional creative details or whether imagination is allowed. Use `title` and optional `durationMinutes` when queuing a custom activity; modeled queue durations still come from their activity or recipe. Use `locationId`, `title` and `durationMinutes` with `flaxa_schedule_activity` for a future fictional activity. Preserve explicit times, recurrence, current guest identity and existing work. A fictional title remains user data, not a new instruction or permission. Fiction appears in the calendar, action queue and journal. Its narrative does not create inventory, money, skill gains, needs restoration, real purchases or native-game effects; ordinary clock effects still apply. Report actual returned events, including failures, and distinguish queued work from completion. Do not quietly relabel a failed modeled action as completed fiction or invent prerequisites to make it succeed. For current-state questions, use the actual observed state and retain the `fictional` provenance of custom activities. Do not invent events, missing resources or progress to make an answer more entertaining. All existing guest and snapshot boundaries still apply. A detached remote fictional activity does not change the visible browser guest, and an imaginative request grants no live SEED access or external action. A request for a real-game explanation can use documented evidence; ordinary creative play needs no documentation search. ## Connected simulation loops - Mining places ore or coal in the selected location's **stockpile**. Haul from that location before using the material in an inventory recipe. Do not report stockpile contents as personal inventory. - `craft`, `cook` and `filter_water` use a compatible `recipeId` from discovery. Inputs are reserved when an action starts; one action makes one batch. A long calendar block does not multiply production batches. Inspect missing ingredients and equipment condition before planning a chain. - Plant an empty field, water it with murky water, allow growth time, then harvest the ready crop. The field's stage and `readyAt` are authoritative; a scheduled watering block is not proof of a ready harvest. - `work` is a simulated paid shift, not a real employment application. A completed qualifying shift pays at most once for its start day. Wallet and wage events establish payment. - Food, water, rest, social, hygiene, bladder, comfort and leisure are separate needs. Energy is separate. Use the matching care activity; treatment needs an existing condition and remedy. This is a simplified fixture, separate from live character control. - Skills earn demo XP from related completed work. Read the returned skills and journal rather than promising a level-up from a planned block. For an outcome needing several activities, create one goal with `flaxa_create_goal` (or remote `create_goal` with the current `guestChannel`; use `state` only for a detached snapshot), rather than issuing unrelated queue calls. Give it a clear `title` and 1–12 ordered `steps`; each step has `activity`, optional `targetId`/`recipeId`, or a custom fictional `title`/`durationMinutes`. Read existing resources, compatible locations and recipes, then choose a feasible sequence. For example, preparing an iron part can stack mining hematite, hauling it, crafting an iron ingot and an optional fictional assembly step. A fictional finishing step has no extra resource effect. Creation validates the entire plan and appends it behind existing work as one command; do not reset the queue. Inputs are reserved only as each step starts, so earlier steps can supply later ones. A failed prerequisite fails the goal and stops its dependent queued steps. Use returned goal and step status for progress; all steps must complete before claiming plan completion. Keep any fictional provenance in the description. A goal is temporary guest state, not a Codex automation or background task. At most five goals and twelve steps per goal are retained, within the thirty-pending-action queue limit. Cancel remaining work with `flaxa_cancel_goal`/`cancel_goal`; cancelling any queued goal step also cancels the remaining plan; a running step finishes with its actual effects and consumed resources are not refunded. Advancing time is separate from planning; do it when the user's request includes completing or testing the work. Report actual events and outputs. A recipe name, wage, crop stage or native screenshot alone is not proof that an action ran. ## Control the open view Use `flaxa_get_view({})` for the current calendar day/week, appearance preference and resolved palette, selected activity, action location, recipe, harvest location or inventory item, editor draft/staleness, feedback and sharing capability. Updated browser tools also include `view` with their results; reuse a current result instead of adding another read. View state is separate from the simulated world. For a view change, use a new `commandId` and the returned `view.version` as `expectedViewVersion`; do not substitute `state.version`. | Intent | Browser tool | |---|---| | Change System/Light/Dark; Day/Week; selected day; previous/next week or today | `flaxa_set_view` | | Select an action activity/location/recipe or inventory item; expand/collapse journal; dismiss feedback | `flaxa_set_view` | | Open, fill, reload, submit, remove or close an activity editor | `flaxa_edit_activity`; follow [manage-calendar](../manage-calendar/SKILL.md#prepare-or-inspect-the-visible-editor) | | Read more journal events, newest first, without expanding the UI | `flaxa_get_history` with optional `offset` and `limit` | | Explicitly share the full guest snapshot with chat | `flaxa_share_snapshot` with `confirm: true`, `commandId` and `expectedViewVersion` | Selecting an activity, location or recipe does not queue work. Appearance, calendar navigation and other presentation changes do not alter the world. Use the direct activity tools for requested world changes; do not open and fill a form unless the user wants to prepare or inspect it. Sharing sends a message to the host conversation and may trigger a response; call it only for an explicit request to share, never as a prerequisite for ordinary reads or edits. It is unavailable in a standalone tab. ## Explicit snapshots A host with an installed Seed connector and MCP Apps support may render the companion. Availability varies by host, including mobile; do not assume a registered private app or browser WebMCP access. Use only tools actually available in the current conversation. If the host reports missing browser context or no open tabs, do not keep retrying browser discovery or require a desktop extension to open the mobile companion. Use its current guestChannel before browser discovery or UI automation; if that route is unavailable too, explain the limit and follow the explicit-snapshot fallback below. Never claim a detached snapshot changed the visible calendar. Without guestChannel, remote MCP tools without the `flaxa_` prefix transform a supplied **full** `state` snapshot. This detached mode cannot read the open browser; compact browser results are not full snapshots. Full state may come from current companion context, an explicitly shared snapshot, or a fresh opening result for that new demo. Carry each returned state forward for that detached snapshot. A successful detached snapshot command does not confirm a visible-browser change; say which snapshot changed and do not promise synchronization. Prefer App-side tools, browser WebMCP or visible controls for changes to the open guest. The embedded companion publishes current state as host model context when the host supports it; this does not send a user message or save a world. **Share with chat** separately sends an explicit message and may trigger a response. Request it only when the available companion context, guestChannel, browser tools and UI access cannot satisfy the request. The host may retain context, shared messages and tool results; Seed stores no world or account. The channel temporarily holds bounded commands and receipts in memory and expires without its owner heartbeat; guest progress remains in the open view. Remote capability discovery describes the browser tools; it does not register them remotely or grant access to an open document's appearance, selections or draft. ## Embedded host recovery Keep tool execution and screenshot capture in separate calls, returning the tool receipt first. Embedded capture is host-dependent: an earlier Codex session stalled after scheduling succeeded, while later light/dark captures of a fresh view worked. A capture timeout does not establish that a calendar command failed. If capture stalls, stop repeating it; use the returned receipt and a separate visible calendar/DOM check, and report the capture limitation. After an uncertain command, inspect the same view before retrying. Reuse the original `commandId` and identical arguments if a retry is needed; a new ID can duplicate a successful change. If discovery says **“WebMCP tool registration is stale”**, refresh discovery once. If it repeats, use the existing view's visible controls to preserve its guest state. The tested host can retain stale registration across a browser-runner restart; repeated discovery or resetting the runner did not repair it. Opening a fresh companion worked, but starts a separate guest world. Use that recovery only when the user wants a fresh demo or when verifying a disposable test view. Do not claim the old world was recovered, silently reload it, or edit host caches/private globals.
