# Contributing Thanks for helping improve the Russian translation of the DeepSeek Harness web UI. This document covers the dictionary format, style rules, and the process for getting changes merged. ## Where translations live - `dict/ru/.json` — the source of truth for translations. One file per UI namespace; the file name is the namespace. - `upstream/corpus.json` — English source strings extracted from [deepseek-ai/deepseek-harness](https://github.com/deepseek-ai/deepseek-harness), grouped by namespace. This is the key source: translate keys that exist there, do not invent your own. - `lib/client.js` — the browser bundle, generated from `dict/ru/` by `node scripts/build.mjs` and committed, so users never need a build step. Never edit it by hand. ## Dictionary format Each dictionary file is a flat JSON object mapping keys to Russian strings: ```json { "ok": "ОК", "cancel": "Отмена" } ``` - Valid JSON, UTF-8, string values only. - Only keys that exist in `upstream/corpus.json` for that namespace. An unknown namespace or key is a structural violation and fails `node scripts/check.mjs`. - To find where a string lives, search `upstream/corpus.json` for the English text, note its namespace and key, then edit the matching `dict/ru/.json`. ## Placeholders Preserve `{tokens}` exactly as in the source string: - Same token names, none added or dropped. - Never translate or rename anything inside braces. - You may move a token within the sentence when Russian word order requires it — `node scripts/check.mjs` will flag any real mismatch. ## Style rules - Address the user with the formal «вы», lowercase in mid-sentence («Введите название», «Вы уверены?»). - Keep technical tokens untranslated: file paths, CLI commands and flags, code identifiers, format specifiers, and brand/product names (DeepSeek, dsh, etc.). - If `docs/glossary.md` exists, follow it for terminology. Otherwise keep terminology consistent with existing entries in `dict/ru/` — prefer reusing an established term over introducing a synonym. - Keep UI strings short. Do not add trailing punctuation to labels and buttons if the source string has none. ## Validation and build ```bash node scripts/check.mjs # per-namespace coverage table + structural validation node scripts/build.mjs # regenerate lib/client.js from dict/ru/ ``` `node scripts/check.mjs` exits non-zero on structural violations: unknown namespace or key, placeholder mismatch, invalid values. `node scripts/check.mjs --strict` additionally fails when any upstream key is missing from `dict/ru/` — CI runs the non-strict check for now and will switch to `--strict` once coverage reaches 100%. ## Pull request process 1. Fork the repository and create a branch. 2. Make your changes only in `dict/ru/.json` files. 3. Run `node scripts/check.mjs` and fix anything it reports. 4. Run `node scripts/build.mjs` and commit the dictionary file(s) together with the regenerated `lib/client.js` — both belong in the same PR. 5. Open a pull request. Name the namespace(s) you touched and mention whether you covered previously missing upstream keys. Keep PRs focused on one namespace when possible. 6. Make sure CI passes.
