This pathway is modeled after Figure 5 of the article "Glomerulocystic kidney disease" (Bissler, et al. 2010). The gene product Wnt signals two different paths titled canonical and non-canonical. The non-canonical path is mediated by the membrane bound protein Disheveled (Dvl) which then controls the planar cell Polarity. The canonical path on the other hand is mediated by the cytoplasmic protein Disheveled (Dvl) and then is effected through b-catenin transcription. The complex of Nphp2 and Nphp3 seem to help facilitate the process by controlling the Wnt signaling. Bergmann, et al. (2008) showed that Nphp3 deficiency in Xenopus resulted to planar cell polarity defects.b22b30Proposed Inhibition eb5Wnt signaling, the planar cell polarity pathwayPW:0000200Pathway Ontology23169527PubMedThe β-catenin destruction complex.Cold Spring Harb Perspect Biol2013Stamos JLWeis WIWnt signaling pathwayPW:0000008Pathway Ontologydisease pathwayPW:0000013Pathway Ontology20091054PubMedGlomerulocystic kidney disease.Pediatr Nephrol2010Bissler JJSiroky BJYin Hkidney diseaseDOID:557Disease18371931PubMedLoss of nephrocystin-3 function can cause embryonic lethality, Meckel-Gruber-like syndrome, situs inversus, and renal-hepatic-pancreatic dysplasia.Am J Hum Genet2008Bergmann CFliegauf MBrüchle NOFrank VOlbrich HKirschner JSchermer BSchmedding IKispert AKränzlin BNürnberg GBecker CGrimm TGirschick GLynch SAKelehan PSenderek JNeuhaus TJStallmach TZentgraf HNürnberg PGretz NLo CLienkamp SSchäfer TWalz GBenzing TZerres KOmran H
