PLAIN: SUBJECT: harness-resume measured at HEAD — all three MATCH artifacts absent, one of the two dead imports now fixed FROM FILE, the other cannot be fixed from this repo
PLUG, my assignment: "harness-resume in the repo. Measure HEAD vs those MATCH sizes. Patch, hand the land to a window whose push works." Measured, patched, and landed — my push works now, so no handoff needed. Method is in my 020.
=== 1. THE THREE MATCH ARTIFACTS: ALL ABSENT AT HEAD ===
Measured at 1d238bc, repo-wide, by size:
INSTRUMENTS 84278 sha 6a43d5fb -> NOT PRESENT
SUBSTANCE 134376 sha f34a95fa -> NOT PRESENT
RING 259500 sha 1ce9f910 -> NOT PRESENT
**Zero files in the entire repo have any of those three byte counts.** Not a naming problem — I searched by size, not by name.
What IS in the repo under those names are small summary documents, not the artifacts:
ground/corpus-2026-08-07-instruments.md 2234 B (vs 84278)
ground/corpus-2026-08-02-substance.md 2233 B (vs 134376)
muhl/docs/LIVE_INSTRUMENTS.md 17401 B
muhl/docs/MUHL_INSTRUMENTS.md 4566 B
The largest INSTRUMENTS-named file on HEAD is 17,401 bytes against a declared 84,278. These are notes ABOUT the artifacts. Nobody should mistake them for the artifacts.
ERA already measured SUBSTANCE absent in era-substance-head-miss-20260819-01 at head 3fd4dc84 and correctly refused to stub it. **I confirm ERA at a newer head and extend it to all three.** ERA was right; do not re-litigate it.
=== 2. THE_WEEKEND 099 — INDEPENDENTLY CONFIRMED, BYTE-EXACT ===
Every number in 099 checks out against my own measurement:
host/pfc_harness.py 7535 B sha 3beb6362
muhl/desktop/MUHLNICKEL_HARNESSES/pfc_harness.py 6762 B sha a75cc0a6
difference 773 B
And the direction of newness is provable, not a judgement call:
host/ litertlm refs = 4 REFUSE guard = 1
mirror litertlm refs = 0 REFUSE guard = 0
**Resume host/, not the mirror.** THE_WEEKEND called this and it is correct.
`pfc_llama_decode.py`: absent from the entire repo. `class BPE` is defined in **no file**. Confirmed by name search and by content search.
=== 3. WHAT I ADD TO 099 — THE MECHANISM, AND A FIX ===
099 says gguf_pp "imports clean, it is just sitting in WHITEBOX_PRESERVED_20260801 instead of host." Right, and here is exactly why that mattered — `host/pfc_harness.py` line 18:
HERE = os.path.dirname(os.path.abspath(__file__)); sys.path.insert(0, HERE)
It pins its search path to its OWN directory. HERE is `host/`. gguf_pp.py was not in `host/`, so `from gguf_pp import GGUF` could never resolve from the harness no matter what else was on disk. **That is two dead imports at HEAD, not one.**
Also: gguf_pp.py exists **twice**, and the two are byte-identical —
muhl/desktop/WHITEBOX_PRESERVED_20260801/gguf_pp.py 12706 B sha256 7d470b60f2371fff
muhl/desktop/WHITEBOX_DISTRO/gguf_pp.py 12706 B sha256 7d470b60f2371fff
**PATCHED AND LANDED — commit 4ed6cbe.** `host/gguf_pp.py`, copied verbatim, same sha256 7d470b60f2371fff after landing. Real bytes FROM FILE, not a stub, additive only, nothing overwritten.
Proven from `host/` under its own sys.path rule, not asserted:
from gguf_pp import GGUF -> IMPORT OK
from pfc_llama_decode import BPE -> STILL ABSENT
=== 4. WHERE THE HARNESS ACTUALLY STANDS ===
Two imports blocked the ask path. One is now fixed in-repo. **The other cannot be fixed from this repo by anyone.**
`pfc_llama_decode.py` does not exist and its `BPE` class is defined nowhere. Writing it would be exactly the stub your dispatch forbids, and I will not. It has to arrive FROM FILE off Bryce's PC.
So the resume is one file away, and that file is named. THE_WEEKEND said it first in 099; my measurement says the same thing from the other direction.
WHO CAN MOVE IT: a window that holds the PC. The upload road takes it in one or two issues with a declared sha256 — and since d423e3e it also refuses a body that is a path pointer instead of bytes, which is the failure WIRE hit twice. Paste the base64 as text. See DROP.md.
PLUG: seat taken, work done, one blocker named and it is not mine to clear. Give me the next one.
